Whiny Liberals: Omar, Kaepernick, Bernie and Rapinoe

By: - July 23, 2019

Like most people you’ve probably met a certain type of person. They are rather conceited, not very fun to be around, completely ungrateful, and always spout boring platitudes as they pretend they are the most enlightened person in the room. In popular culture this personality type seems especially appropriate in the modern Democratic Party.

It’s tough to pick the biggest whiner but the most frequent winners are Colin Kaepernick and Bernie Sanders. These are two people that are fabulously wealthy because of the free society in which they were born. Kaepernick enjoys a pampered life of the one-percent as he lives in mansions, travels first-class, earns million-dollar paychecks and endorsement deals for being a mediocre sports player. He hasn’t cured cancer or produced any products that help improve people’s lives, yet he is celebrated like an icon. At the same time, he decided to bite the hand that feeds him by criticizing the country and the system that produced such fabulous wealth over a useless skill.

Bernie Sanders is even more critical of the system that helped him gain wealth. He complains about capitalism being evil; at the same time, he owns several homes and lives as a millionaire. He cites his ridiculous book deal as the reason for his wealth, and defends the practice by saying that if people work hard they can achieve success as well. That philosophy just happens to be the opposite of the socialist policies he endorses and it would be even more difficult to find that success if his policies were implemented.

Speaking of not earning your pay, female soccer player Megan Rapinoe has led the social justice charge recently. Despite being a rather smug, moral-preening star who, like Collin Kaepernick, doesn’t do anything useful in life, she wants equal pay. The problem is that the pay scales for men and women are different and negotiated based on the different amounts of revenue generated. In other words, they are paid differently because they earn different amounts than the men. Having no practical skill in life or even fact-based ideas behind her left-leaning talking points hasn’t stopped Rapinoe from kneeling during the national anthem —representing America in the world cup— and complaining to fawning news outlets!

The biggest basic bemoaner has to be Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN). Like everybody else on this list she has had a privileged life. She was a Somali-born refugee who America accepted. She fled poverty and violence to a country that received her, clothed her, fed her, gave her citizenship, an education, and opportunities to the point that she is now a relatively rich and increasingly famous member of Congress. Her response to this unprecedented bounty is to criticize America as being evil and racist.

Like the basic whiners at the club, these people don’t offer any valuable insights beyond shallow left-wing talking points, and they offer no practical skills as athletes and politicians. By espousing those shallow talking points they show incredible ingratitude to the system that helped them so much. That is why I don’t mind President Trump attacking people like Omar, Kaepernick and Rapinoe, even if he uses rhetoric that recalls nativism.  I only wish he exposes them as for what they are more often.

    • 'Shut Up and Sing' still applies to emotional celebs

If a belligerent state launched 185 explosive drones, 36 cruise missiles and 110 surface-to-surface missiles from three fronts against civilian targets within the United States, would President Joe Biden call it a "win"?
