When it Comes to Global Warming, the Only Hot Air We Should Be Concerned About Comes From Politicians

“…the only hot air we should be truly concerned about comes from the politicians and the climate change cartel. They benefit from alarmist rhetoric by cloaking themselves in the robes of liberal righteousness, so they can better enact policies such as solar subsidies that get them reelected.”

Fox News’ Chris Wallace did an excellent job of questioning Al Gore’s rhetoric when he appeared on the network Sunday. In 2006, Al Gore predicted that within ten years the world’s climate would reach a “point of no return,” yet 11 years later there appears to be little evidence of that tipping point. When questioned about this fact, Al Gore had little to say in response.

Trump’s wise decision to withdraw from the Paris Accords has unleashed another round of dire warnings. But Al Gore’s failed prediction, the debunked “hockey stick” graph, and so many more failed alarmist predictions are indicative of how the shrill rhetoric of climate change activists undermines whatever legitimate points they might have.

Climate change predictions are nothing new. I’m old enough to remember getting grade school warnings about global cooling, so they’ve been around for quite a while. But Al Gore took it to new heights with his documentary and prediction about the point of no return. To this day he points to a rise in storms, hurricanes, and droughts as proof of his theories.

While it’s true that wicked weather storms are scary, pollution is undesirable, and the United States has taken justifiable steps to reduce carbon emissions; these outlandish predictions only make those uttering them look like false prophets preaching a liberal gospel. Only, as ESPN found out, Americans don’t like the moral preening of liberal elites, especially when people like Al Gore are demonstrably wrong.

Even if global warming theories were true, it’s not the literal end of the world as the elites try to make you think. Less heated global warming scientists pointed out that those warmer temperatures would bring more rain and a longer growing season to many parts of the world. Other areas would receive less rain, but still be suitable for grazing; on average the warming would be positive. Other scientists point out that the money and effort spent to change the global temperature a fraction of a degree could be better spent eliminating disease in Africa or providing fresh water for millions with limited access.

Former President Obama, Vice President Gore, and others fly around the world in private jets, live in large mansions, and have motorcades filled with SUVs that all create far more greenhouse gasses than the average person would in a lifetime. Yet these elites feel the need to lecture Americans on saving the planet.

All of this means that the only hot air we should be truly concerned about comes from the politicians and the climate change cartel. They benefit from alarmist rhetoric by cloaking themselves in the robes of liberal righteousness, so they can better enact policies such as solar subsidies that get them reelected.

After all, according to their reasoning, what person doesn’t want to vote for a politician that saved the world? And the climate change scientists can feel important, receive research grants, and appear as saviors. But Al Gore and predictions from yesterday should remind us that politicians and climate change activists spew as much hot air as the supposedly evil coal and gas companies.
