Controversial Conservative Activist Laura Loomer Considers Future in Congress

By: - April 15, 2019

Best known for handcuffing herself to Twitter headquarters in NYC following her permanent ban, Laura Loomer took to Instagram to announce a possible run for Congress. In a live broadcast, the self-described conservative journalist announced the launch of an exploratory committee. Among her concerns are censorship of conservatives, politics of current freshman congresswomen, immigration reform, and political correctness.

If elected, Loomer promises she will roam the halls of Congress “Loomering” members and using her reporting to advocate for issues. Part of Laura Loomer’s routine includes aggressively confronting public figures on camera in a practice she refers to as “Loomering” people. She’s been known to approach the likes of Linda Sarsour, Maxine Waters, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

As of late, Loomer has also criticized establishment conservatives for failure to defend what she describes as being censored from social media outlets and services such as Uber and Lyft. According to her, big names are more interested in self-preservation than standing for the rights of all. This is another issue Loomer plans to take up in Congress in the event of her election.

Since being unceremoniously ejected from the Twitter platform for good, Laura Loomer has remained actively engaged in politics. Despite her absence from the social media network, she’s even reached the number one trending topic on Twitter. Loomer has staged several protests and participated in antics that have garnered national attention and even landed her in hot water. Trespassing charges were recently dropped against Loomer for occupying the lawn at the California governor’s mansion, home of Gov. Gavin Newsom.

She has also been on the receiving end of campaigns calling for her banishment from Instagram after sharing a video to her stories that many viewed as anti-Muslim. Nevertheless, Loomer persists.
