Stop worrying about liberal America’s claims that Republican President-Elect Donald Trump will round you up from your homes and send you packing back to your own country. To be fair, there is a reasonable and legal process to come to this great country, but if you did not follow this path there is still reason to be optimistic. This growing discussion about Trump’s plan for illegal immigrants is organized and thoughtful rhetoric used to incite rage and further divide our country. Both sides do it, it is just politics. But amid these political battles, particularly during these times of impassioned chaos, it’s imperative that we all – illegals included – take a moment to evaluate reality.
Much like the outrage and debate over NSA’s eavesdropping and metadata collection years ago, the issue of cracking down on illegals has again become a tall tale. As “sanctuary city” mayors and local governments spread fear and innuendo by making bold statements that they will not follow President Elect Donald Trump’s plan to deport all illegal aliens, it is again critical that we evaluate what has truly been said. More importantly, how capable is our bloated and lethargic government of even achieving these goals if they were truly the desire of the incoming administration? You may not want to know the answer.
Politicians on both sides have made outlandish claims for centuries now, but rarely can one achieve what they exclaim during the campaign season, mostly because it is extremely difficult to accomplish unilateral goals in our system of government. But perhaps a more important point to understand is many candidates never actually plan to take their policies to the extreme. Instead, much like we are seeing now with Democrats using fear to manipulate the illegal population, politicians pander to their constituents during the election then back down once in office. The dust almost always settles and cooler minds and policies prevail. That is our system of checks and balances.
Point being, like with the NSA eavesdropping, big bad Uncle Sam is not coming after you unless you have done something wrong (and we know about it). If you are here illegally and are a productive member of your community AND you take the initiative to voluntarily pay your share of taxes…you have nothing to fear, period. Our government is too big to worry about the little fish, nor is there a true desire in removing all of those who are here illegally. So, unless you are involved in terrorism, narcotics, or for that matter, anything illegal, the NSA or Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agency won’t be kicking in your door to drag you back to your country. Stop listening to those who tell you anything otherwise.
