Missouri lawmaker posts, then deletes, message daring Secret Service to investigate her

A Democratic Missouri State Senator openly called for the assassination of President Donald Trump Thursday.
“I hope Trump is assassinated!” wrote Missouri State Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal on Facebook.
Chappelle-Nadal’s comment came during an exchange with a Facebook user named Christopher Gagné, who expressed concern that his cousin in the Secret Service could be in danger due to the current political climate.

“Maria, I wonder what my cousin is thinking now,” Gagné posted. He went on to speculate with fear that an attempt on Trump’s life “will happen sooner or later.”
Gagné then speculated that he’d may get a visit from the Secret Service for even speculating such a thing. “No. I will,” replied Chappelle-Nadal. “I hope Trump is assassinated!”
Mark Reardon, a reporter at local news station St. Louis TV station KMOX, tweeted confirmation of the post’s legitimacy.
“I put something up on my personal Facebook page, and it has now been deleted,” Chappelle-Nadal told Reardon.
Chappelle-Nadal isn’t the first Democratic lawmaker to wish harm on President Trump.
“It’s not only Trump supporters who can talk like complete a**holes,” wrote Maine Democratic State Representative Scott Hamann on Facebook in July. “As long as that’s what’s coming out of that side, then I’ll match you dumb f**ks word for word. Trump is a half-term president, at most, especially if I ever get within 10 feet of that p***y.”
