“In a Wall Street Journal and NBC poll that included more Democrats in the sample than Republicans, Nancy Pelosi took the title as least-liked politician in the United States…”
If there is proof is in the results of the last election, we can all see the writing on the wall: the Democratic Party lost everything. They lost the presidency, the House, and the Senate. The Democrats lost more than 1,030 seats in the last eight years under the Obama administration in the US Congress, state legislatures, and governorships. Democrats had hoped the Obama presidency would be a launch of the party into greatness; instead, it became the death knell.
If you look at the iconic red-blue map of the US, it looks even worse for the Democrats than you might have thought.
What should be evident, even to those die-hard Democrats, is that their party is failing at every juncture.
House Representative Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) said that Democrats are no longer “a national party” and must reinvent themselves if they hope to recapture blue-collar, working-class voters. Mr. Ryan challenged Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to lead the House Democratic Caucus. Ms. Pelosi has led the caucus for more than 12 years, and Democrats have lost congressional seats consistently, raising questions about her leadership and ability to help the party rebound from a string of defeats. Nevertheless, the Democratic Party re-elected her again, deciding to stay with the strategies of the past, and lost any chance of gaining favor with a majority of American voters.
In a Wall Street Journal and NBC poll that included more Democrats in the sample than Republicans, Nancy Pelosi took the title as least-liked politician in the United States. That’s right: the Democratic leader in Congress is America’s most hated politician.
More recent mistakes and image blunders by the Democrats are not helping their cause, either. Just when you thought it could not get any worse, they offended the entire country.
In President Trump’s address to the joint houses of Congress, he said, “We are blessed to be joined tonight by Carryn Owens, the widow of a US Navy special operator, Senior Chief William ‘Ryan’ Owens. Ryan died as he lived: a warrior and a hero, battling against terrorism and securing our nation. Ryan’s legacy is etched into eternity.” Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle rose to their feet, giving Owens a standing ovation for several minutes. Most notably, top Democrats Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) all refused to clap or stand for Owens. Their actions were rude, childish, and completely disrespectful to the grieving widow, the military, and the people of this nation. Their show of disrespect was obscene.
As the night went on, the Democrats met the rest of the speech with disdain. Even on issues that had nothing to do with party politics, on statements by the president that the entire nation could support, the Democrats made faces and showed nothing but indignation.
Further, the newly elected chair of the DNC, Tom Perez, stated that “Congressman Ellison and I are united, and our Democratic unity is Donald Trump’s worst nightmare.” What he made clear is that the Democratic Party has no desire to work with the president in any fashion. The new DNC chair is only interested in striking back for the crushing loss the Democratic Party suffered.
The Democratic Party has become the party of obstruction. They are seen by many as the party of dissent, and even if a policy from the Republican side is something that they would typically support, they are now locked in a strictly partisan frame of mind.
The Democrats have fought every executive order, policy, and cabinet position. With constant calls for impeachment, investigations, recusals, and hearings, they are only hurting their cause. The people of the US see these actions for what they are—self-centered and in no way in the interest of the country. The Democrats want payback for losing, and are purposely trying to harm the president of the United States—and in turn, stop any of the people’s work that Congress is supposed to do.
The Democrats are acting like spoiled children that didn’t get their way. They are throwing temper tantrums, and in the process, hammering the last few nails into the Democratic Party coffin. If they continue on this path, it will not be long before they start throwing dirt in the very hole they have buried themselves in.
