What will happen if you decide to be happy now, no matter what? It is the decision to be happy that will lead you to experience true happiness. So many people are waiting for something outside of themselves to make them happy, but the power to be happy lies within.
We create our lives with awareness, or without. When we decide to be happy and really commit ourselves consciously to being happy, we will create the experience of being happy. Sounds too simple to be true. Simple, yes, but not so easy to execute when the circumstances surrounding you feel like hell. This is where consciousness comes into play. Our thoughts create our feelings, and our feelings create our world, literally.
I, along with many family members and close friends, am facing huge challenges such as the death of a loved one, unemployment, horrible work conditions, financial ruin, physical pain, and divorce, not to mention the state of the world. So how is happiness possible under these circumstances? Only when the decision to be happy is made and committed to in our consciousness can we gain the experience of happiness.
Everything is vibrational energy, and happiness raises your vibration so you attract better things into your life. Negativity, hate, and fear only bring more of the same to you. Think of it like this: Negativity subtracts from your life, positivity adds—just simple math. Living in a positive state not only enhances your world but your positive emotions actually trickle into the world around you.
Only you can take over and decide what to think and feel. During difficult times, greater effort must be put into feeding yourself positive thoughts. Focus on something that is good in your life, no matter how small, because what we focus on expands. Keep something in front of you to trigger a happy thought when you see it.
What we look for in life affects what we see. So, look for the things you love, look for the love and beauty in the world. I understand, firsthand, how difficult this appears. Impossible, you might think. But I also understand, from my own experience, just how making the decision to be happy really works.
Allow yourself to imagine something great that may happen, or how you will feel when this episode has passed. Force yourself to think of things that make you feel good. Your feelings are under your control when you make conscious decisions. When you feel good, you are creating a better world for you and everyone else in the world. Unfortunately, the majority of the time, most of us just react to the world around us instead of choosing how we feel.
I am not suggesting you ignore the issue at hand in order to be happy. If you are sick, you need to take measures to get well, but at the same time, find a positive focus. Read or watch funny and uplifting stories. Be grateful for something good in your life and focus on the positive.
If you are living or working in a bad situation, place a trigger in front of you: a photo of a happy memory, a positive statement, or anything that will trigger a happy thought. Send love to whatever or whoever is causing a problem. Think thoughts that make you feel good. Imagine how you will feel when this experience passes.
Our inner world creates our outer world. The inner world is the cause and the outer world is the effect. Find a way to be at peace with whatever is happening around you. Happiness is not always laughter and bliss, but happiness does survive with acceptance of what is, and acceptance also gives you peace.
In difficult times, to live in the moment consciously is our best defense, but it is often traded for worry over what the future may hold. Peace, happiness, and joy can only be generated by you in the present moment.
I urge you to give some thought to your own happiness. In my opinion, happiness is underrated. When happiness is the priority and you feel good, all outcomes will be the best they can be, no matter what the circumstances. According to author Shawn Achor, in his book “The Happiness Advantage,” the outcome is, on average, 31% better than when we are in a positive state vs. being negative, neutral, or stressed. Thirty-one percent can make a huge difference in anyone’s life.
When you feel good, you will attract more things that match that feeling. My wish is health, wealth, and abundance for all, and my hope is that everyone may discover the miracles that happen when you are grateful for what you have in this moment, and decide to be happy…NOW. Don’t wait for happiness; generate it from within.
Ask yourself questions and the answers will come. Tune in. Pay attention to the world around you in the present moment and look for the things that bring you joy. And most of all, be grateful for all you have. Remember: There is no road to happiness; happiness is the ride.

The following exercise is designed for people who do not have time or cannot quiet their minds. Everyone can make ten minutes, right? This will assist you in developing the skills you need to generate positive emotions and help you to focus on the positive so you can attract a better life.
You have the power to generate any feeling you desire. This is something I practiced when I lived in horrible circumstances that I could not change, so I needed to make a change on the inside. And if given enough time, this exercise can elevate your life.
10 Minutes to a Happier You.
Start Your Day in a Positive Way!
Step One: Make the decision to be happy.
Step Two: Smile. Continue to smile while you breathe deep, cleansing breaths.
Keep smiling for the duration of the exercise, continue the deep breathing, and add body movements. Move your arms like a windmill, pushing and stretching as your arms move. Add some foot movements like jumping or dancing. Keep all this going for two to three minutes.
(Smiling releases endorphins, which will help you feel better. The breathing and movements while smiling will help keep your brain busy enough so it will be easier to quiet your mind during the next step.)
Step Three: Sit. Quiet yourself. Breathe deeply and slowly. Fill yourself with positive emotions such as gratitude, love, and joy. Allow the gratitude to permeate every cell and smile while you recognize the good feelings flowing through you. Imagine the day ahead with the best possible outcome. Imagine yourself coming home after your day feeling great. Be grateful for the air filling your lungs.
Sit with these good feelings for three to five minutes or longer if you can.
Now take these good, positive feelings into your day with you and let them ripple ahead as you start your day in a positive way!
