“While technically honor killings are considered crimes, in places like Pakistan, men who murder female family members can get off scot-free once “pardoned” by members of their family.”
A famous singer from New Zealand by the name of Lorde has canceled an appearance in Tel Aviv at the urging of pro-Palestinian activists. She was scheduled to appear in June but canceled a week after the performance was announced after she began receiving criticism on social media.
According to the keyboard warriors, if Lorde performed for her fans in Israel, she would be guilty of supporting an oppressive government. The landslide of comments following her announcement would give even Trumper’s a run for their money.
Most celebrities face public lashing over any number of social media posts that somehow offend the masses. I’ve seen several take their lashings like big boys and girls. Unfortunately, that cannot be said about Lorde. After she was bullied by social justice keyboard warriors, she decided to cancel her appearance.
The activist and anti-Israel crowd did not once mention the fact that Palestine is ruled by sharia law. Instead of addressing the human rights violations that occur under such rule, the social justice warriors want to split hairs over who’s singing in Israel.
This launched a new wave of backlash from social media users who questioned her disturbing decision. While it’s important to remain informed on foreign policy and current events, internationally known superstars need to remember who keeps them in the spotlight. Incorporating religious or political beliefs in public performances is one thing; discriminating against an entire country and its citizens is another. Lorde is setting a terrible example and showing the world that she will cave to bullying. I’m sure she’s more concerned about being “woke” than her loyal fans.
The Twitter dramatics continued with a war of words. Some users expressed disapproval over Lorde’s decision while the “woke” crowd likened Israel to apartheid in South Africa. Apartheid basically means government-sanctioned segregation. As I scrolled through mountains of comments outlining the horrors that Israel has inflicted on the Palestinian people, I couldn’t help but make some controversial observations.
Women suffer unspeakable violence and oppression under sharia law. They don’t have voices, and honor killings are the norm in most countries ruled by Islamic law.

While technically honor killings are considered crimes, in places like Pakistan, men who murder female family members can get off scot-free once “pardoned” by members of their family. Honor killing is the act of violently murdering female family members who bring dishonor to the family. Speaking to a male or choosing her own spouse can be deadly for women under Islamic rule. But let’s worry about who is performing for the citizens of Israel.
The disingenuous ramblings from “activists” who support oppression of women are garbage. These weirdos call themselves activists while remaining mostly silent as a collective on violence against women. Good ol’ Linda Sarsour herself fails to campaign for equal rights in Palestine. She’s more worried about being a victim in the United States than she is about the welfare of the women she shares a culture with. The fact that Lorde allowed them to silence her speaks volumes.
