Curtains closes on Huma Abedin and Anthony Weiner’s political theatre, couple back together
Despite a recent revelation that Anthony Weiner sent an explicit photograph of himself that featured his toddler son in the background, it was reported that top Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin is now back with her scandalous husband and disgraced Congressman. After his many indiscretions—which included Weiner sending inappropriate pictures to other women, including at least one that was underage—Abedin distanced herself from him during the Presidential campaign.
Their separation was thrust into the spotlight when e-mails between Hillary Clinton and Huma Abedin were discovered on Weiner’s computer that he and Abedin shared. The e-mails were discovered as part of the FBI’s investigation into Weiner, stemming from allegations that he participated in explicit picture exchanges with a 15-year-old girl.
Abedin publicly announced their separation last year after she claimed they had tried to work through their issues. Of course, as Clinton’s top aide, it wouldn’t serve the campaign well for Abedin to remain with her disgraced husband. Marital issues aside, it appears that it was all a political stunt in order to disassociate Weiner with anything having to do with Hillary Clinton’s White House bid.
To be fair, what two grown, married people do is no business of the public; however, by imposing their dirty laundry on the citizens of the United States through social media and statements to news outlets, the rules of the game change. This couple and their sordid actions have made a huge mockery of politicians. Amid all the deception and theatrics, one has to wonder what else has been going on behind the scenes. Is Huma Abedin trying to avoid testifying in legal proceedings against Weiner using spousal privilege?
In any case, the hypocrisy among those who support these people is very real. Where was all of the outrage over the fact that this man is accused of communicating with an underage girl using nude photographs? Where are all of the people blasting Abedin for putting on a front during the campaign when she most likely never intended to split from her cheating husband? This is just another illustration into the twisted world of political scandals– make moves to keep the American people thinking one thing so they’ll vote for Clinton, and once that part is over, back to business as usual.
In my opinion, instances like this one are largely responsible for President Donald Trump being elected. Americans grew tired of hypocrisy and distractions within the political spectrum. While many liberals demand political correctness and coddling, President Trump has a brash way of calling things as he sees them, and quite unapologetically so.
At any rate, good luck, Huma. You got a real winner there.
