Hurricane Florence Begins it’s Track Over the Carolinas

Florence has weakened to a category 2 hurricane, but that doesn’t mean it will not be a destructive storm. Wind speeds are still expected to be about 80 mph. A storm surge 9 to 13 feet high, about the height as a second floor of a house, is still expected to to hit the Carolina coast. Florence is expected to stand over the Carolinas for the next few days with strong winds and rain through Saturday.

Meteorologist Ryan Maue predicted that Florence will have dropped about 10 trillion gallons of rain over the Carolinas by the time the storm is over.

Landfall is when the eye of the storm hits the land and is expected to hit Friday afternoon at the earliest. Tornadoes are also likely on Thursday and Friday and some parts of North Carolina.
