Apparently, the confusion over having two Dan Sullivans on the ballot in Alaska is having an effect, according to the testimony of a voter emerging from his polling place.
News Nation caught up with the man to ask him about what has become a national election-integrity story: the emerging of a political novice running for the U.S. Senate as an independent who happens to share a name with the sitting Republican senator who is attempting to keep his seat in D.C.
“I don’t remember seeing the other Dan Sullivan,” the voter tells the reporter. “I totally forgot to look if there was two Dan Sullivans.”
Pressed the reporter, “The two were together on the ballot. You didn’t notice that?”
The man holds his hand to his head, stating, “I just … I might be just having a brain freeze. But I don’t remember the second Dan Sullivan.”
Later the man affirms, “I definitely intended to vote for the real Dan Sullivan.”

Republican Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy on Thursday ordered the state’s Department of Public Safety to conduct an official investigation into allegations of the ballot scheme tied to the Democratic candidate Rep. Mary Peltola, reported Wednesday by The New York Times.
Peltola’s campaign denies any involvement in recruiting or helping the second Dan Sullivan get on the ballot.
A federal judge on Sunday blocked a lawsuit from the U.S. Department of Justice against Alaska over the ballot-box confusion. In a 20-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Sharon Gleason – nominated by President Barack Obama in 2011 – wrote:
“Simply, the Court cannot grant the United States the relief it seeks. If this Court were to order that certain ballots will be segregated and subject to a future and as yet unspecified investigation by law enforcement, it would likely result in voter confusion and consequent incentive to remain away from the polls.”
Commenters on X were convinced by the voter video that the apparent ruse is working as intended:
“‘I intended to vote for the real Dan Sullivan’ shouldn’t be something an Alaskan has to say after voting,” posted one.
“To make matters even more confusing, they have ranked choice voting. Let’s hope he at least ranked the real Dan Sullivan as his second pick.”
“Just like the way the Democrats planned it.”
Meanwhile, President Trump is calling for criminal charges over the incident, posting:
