Federal authorities are disputing Ilhan Omar’s claim that her son was targeted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement with a traffic stop.
She had claimed that ICE agents pulled her son, who was on a trip to Target, over, but then allowed him to leave “after he showed proof of citizenship.”
Tensions inside and regarding the Somali immigrant community in Minnesota have been at fever pitch since an independent investigation revealed probable fraud there costing state taxpayers a billion dollars or more.
In an interview, Omar accused ICE of pulling over her 20-hear-old son. ICE said the evidence contradicted the congresswoman’s claims.
EXCLUSIVE: Officials @ICEgov tell @NEWSMAX the agency has no record of stopping a car driven by the son of @Ilhan, as the congresswoman claimed. Acting Director Lyons called the charge a “ridiculous effort to unfairly demonize our law enforcement officers.” pic.twitter.com/x5EwGHvkrF

A report at RedState said Omar made the claim “without evidence,” and explained:
“Two problems here. Walz’s claim that Omar’s son was simply ‘following the law’ is belied by reports that he had actually been pulled over for a traffic violation, which, by its nature, is not following the law. Furthermore, ICE officials tell Newsmax Chief Washington Correspondent James Rosen that they have no record of the interaction with their agents. One could say it was … undocumented.”
Rosen confirmed, “Officials [at ICE] tell @NEWSMAX the agency has no record of stopping a car driven by the son of [Rep. Ilhan Omar], as the congresswoman claimed.”
Omar’s allegations:
Ilhan Omar confirms her son was pulled over and detained by ICE.
President Trump also recently announced Ilhan was under investigation for marrying her brother.

And her story even was backed by leftist Gov. Tim Walz:
Congresswoman Omar’s son was pulled over by ICE while he was following the law, on his way home from Target.
This isn’t a targeted operation to find violent criminals, it’s racial profiling.

The report explained Omar said she had warned her son to avoid certain areas as ICE intensified its enforcement of federal law.
The report explained, “Omar has been under increased scrutiny following reports of exploding multi-billion-dollar welfare fraud schemes taking place in Minnesota, allegedly perpetrated by members of the state’s large Somali community. Omar has long been a vocal advocate for the community. She moved to the United States in 1995, when she was 12, after her family fled the civil war in Somalia.”
Multiple federal departments and agencies now are investigating the Minnesota fraud, which already has produced dozens of convictions.
