Kathy Griffin Claims She was Bullied by Trump Family – Tries to Leverage Situation to Further Career

“It’s tough to see how Kathy Griffin is a legitimate victim when there is video of her joking about the backlash she will inspire, followed by a lame attempt at an apology and now her claims that the disgusted reactions are bullying.”

After taking pictures holding a prop of President Trump’s severed head, Kathy Griffin held a press conference where she discussed the “bullying” of the Trump family and the death threats she has received.  This is a rather stunning development and shows that this entire event is designed to enhance her career.  I know that writing another article about her risks promoting her name and playing into her hand, but it is important to look at her manipulative behavior so future provocateurs can’t troll the outrage machine and spout victim ideology for their benefit.

As I explained, most people couldn’t name more than maybe one or two acting gigs that she had. After she was fired from a CNN New Year’s hosting gig, I’m sure most people were surprised she even had that job. (I live in Las Vegas so if I’m ever watching CNN on New Year’s you have my permission to shoot me.)  The wall to wall coverage of Griffin is a publicity coup for this forgettable comedian and she will likely convert her infamy into a lucrative gig catering to the fervent anti-Trump crowd.

This news conference and claims of being bullied are just the next step in that process.  Our country has advanced a good deal, but racism still exists and minorities still face additional challenges because of it.  But in several areas such as politics, education, and entertainment, being a minority or a victim is actually an advantage.

Rachel Dolezal is a white person who claimed to be black, which she translated into a teaching position and leadership role with the NAACP.  Elizabeth Warren was a middling law professor with an average career before she suddenly found Native American heritage. Then Pocahontas became a Harvard professor, senator, and is now a leading figure in the Democratic Party.  Kathy Griffin hasn’t discovered long lost ethnic roots, but she did something deliberately provocative and outrageous to provoke a response, and now she is claiming to be a victim of the response she knew she would get.

It’s tough to see how Kathy Griffin is a legitimate victim when there is video of her joking about the backlash she will inspire, followed by a lame attempt at an apology and now her claims that the disgusted reactions are bullying. On top of that, she tried to wrap herself in the flag by discussing how she performed overseas for the troops and for wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Medical hospital. It’s a nice attempt to gain sympathy, but I think most Americans would have rather laughed at funny jokes and avoided this controversy all together.

She is a manipulative, no talent, D-list hack, using the language of victimhood to advance her career. In the future I hope we can simply ignore their clown shows and focus on important issues.
