Keeping Border Policies a Jumble Helps the Anti-Border Democrats/Media Fool Americans

By: - June 28, 2019

My daughter is renovating her house, which provided an apt metaphor for the Democrats refusal to cooperate with President Trump to address the border crisis. What the Dems are doing to the president is like hiring a contractor to renovate your house. But you won’t provide money for the renovation materials. Then you blame the contractor for not getting the job done.

Similarly, congressional Democrats won’t pass laws or provide funding to do the job—fix the border crisis. Then, when the crisis becomes untenable, they blame the president for “corruption,” “human rights violations,” and “separating families.” Incidentally, Dems don’t seem to care that the government also separates families after the IRS catches a parent breaking federal law by cheating on taxes.

The migrant magnet comprising political inaction and “resistance” toward border issues has reached a crescendo with the story and viral photo of a deceased father and his two-year-old daughter. This is possibly the most gut-wrenching photograph I’ve seen. Tragically, there they lie at the river’s edge, side-by-side, the baby’s arm around her father’s neck, drowned during their perilous attempt to cross the Rio Grande.

The left blames the right—particularly President Trump, ridiculously accusing ICE and the Border Patrol of operating concentration camps, torturing children, and committing murder.

The right blames the left—particularly, too many to mention, accusing them of inaction, obstruction, and “resistance.”

The difference is the former is an obvious lie, and the latter is a demonstrable truth.

Democrats are blaming President Trump for the deaths and the border crisis in general. The border crisis many Dems said quite recently the Republicans “manufactured.” Come on…

Like President Trump or not, can anyone truthfully argue the guy hasn’t been trying desperately to secure the border and to eliminate the policies and circumstances that encourage migrants to pay the cartels to come to the U.S.?

Remember, President Trump, the Democrats say, doesn’t like immigrants (well, illegal immigrants, but I won’t quibble). He doesn’t want them here. It’s the Democrats who oppose his ceaseless fight to protect our border from illegal immigration.

It’s the Democrats who have admitted they want a “migrant” (legal or not) revolving door at the border. They have stood in President Trump’s way for every mile of every exploited soul’s journey north. They come because they know others have come before them and were allowed to stay in the U.S.—the magnet.

The Democrats have been refusing to pass legislation to remedy the mass of border-crossers and blocking Trump’s policies in court. Judges have repeatedly ruled against the president’s immigration policies (because they are his policies), and, until just now, the Democrats have been refusing to authorize money the administration needs to purchase, among other things, beds for children.

Now, we have an added dimension of workers for a bed manufacturer in Massachusetts launching a protest and refusing to manufacture or send beds for these kids caught up in the adults’ mess. They say they don’t want to take part in furnishing “concentration camps.” Listen to their anti-profit, socialist chants. This is nothing but a political crime of opportunity.

The Democrats have finally voted to authorize funds for “humanitarian” functions but nothing to solve the long-term crisis. But, despite Speaker Pelosi’s pleas for Dems to vote for the emergency border funding, she had four defectors. Yes, you’ve probably already guessed the lineup. According to thehill.com, they were the usual suspects: Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).

The truly unpleasant, Rep. Omar explained that “Throwing more money at the very organizations committing human rights abuses—and the very Administration directing these human rights abuses—is not a solution. This is a humanitarian crisis—a humanitarian crisis inflicted by our own leadership.” Did you catch her alternate plan? Me either. Calling the president and ICE personnel “human rights abusers” seems to be her plan.

Back to the poor father and daughter floating in the river. As I said, that photo of 25-year-old Oscar Alberto Martinez Ramirez and his daughter Angie Valeria crushed me. I have a grandson just about that baby’s age. An anguished wife and mother, Tania Vanessa Avalos, watched from the Mexican side as her family perished.

Setting aside the political blame game, we cannot dismiss there is another place to consider blame. What about the parents?

This baby girl’s father put her at grave risk in attempting to cross that river with her. And it was wholly avoidable. According to DailyMail.com, the family left El Salvador in early April and spent two months in an immigrant camp in southern Mexico. When they hadn’t heard news of their asylum request, they took a bus to the U.S. border.

After arriving they found the consulate was closed, but discovered they were way down on the list of hundreds of asylum seekers. So, rather than wait to enter the U.S. legally, they chose to make the hazardous river crossing, which cost the family two lives.

Ramirez initially successfully brought his daughter across the river. Then he left her on the shore, so he could return to help his wife cross. Two-year-olds being just that, the baby went back into the water after her father. The baby drowned and her father drowned trying to save her. That Democrat-supported magnet that allows illegal immigrants to stay in America is a powerful one.

Ramirez and his wife may have all the good intentions in the world, but we should at least respect him enough as an adult human being to assign responsibility where it belongs. Maybe he’s a true refugee, maybe he’s not (the reports I read mention only economic motivations for going to the United States).

Still, if these folks didn’t know about the Democrat-endorsed policies that made it likely they’d be released into America’s interior, they may have decided not to come. It’s not worth the risk, if it’s certain they’ll be deported back to their countries. Perhaps, they’ll decide to get in line with all those folks obeying the law. Regardless, that father made a lot of dubious decisions that wound up costing him and his daughter their lives that day.

Back to political fault. If the Democrats in Congress don’t put their insane hate for President Trump and their hostile resistance to his policies aside and work to alleviate the border crisis they so recently dismissed as “manufactured,” more fathers and mothers will risk the lives of their sons and daughters and continue trying to cross that river. Perhaps the overdue congressional action that just passed is a good sign.
