Once again, crazy Linda has found a way to put herself in the middle of a social media firestorm. This time, she’s coming under fire for a speech she gave on July 1, where she called for “jihad” against President Donald Trump and his administration. In a half-assed attempt to justify her use of jihad, Sarsour claims that those who think it’s a bad thing are simply ignorant to what the word actually means and should educate themselves before speaking. This is one of the issues I have with Linda Sarsour. She’ll say some off-the-wall mess and cry about being persecuted or attacked by the alt-right when anyone dares to challenge her goofy ideas and rhetoric. She’ll simply write someone off as an idiot and summon her vagina hat wearing followers to lash out against the big bad Islamaphobic society that is the United States.
In her defense, she does an impeccable job of being riled up. Her speeches are full of conviction on how she’s “unapologetically Muslim.” Frankly, I roll my eyes whenever someone describes themselves as unapologetically anything. I guess that makes me a white supremacist…oh, wait. In any case, Sarsour took to Twitter to engage in some very colorful exchanges. According to the Palestinian-American activist, jihad simply means to struggle. Listen Linda, you know exactly what jihad means to the rest of the non-Sharia world. It invokes the idea of violent holy war against infidels and all those who believe in freedom, as opposed to Islamic law.
So this unapologetically Muslim woman wants others to apologetically be who they are? In any case, Sarsour went on a Twitter rage about how America hates her and wants to shut her down because everyone hates Muslims. She’ll defend Hamas until she’s blue in the face, but not someone’s constitutional right to disagree with her statements. This was demonstrated in her attack on CNN correspondent Jake Tapper when she blasted him as “joining the ranks of the alt-right” for calling her out on remarks she made about a survivor of female genital mutilation. This woman is absolutely off her rocker.
She also called on Muslims in the United States to remain in a perpetual state of outrage. During the course of her outrageous speech, Sarsour asserted that it’s not up to Muslims to assimilate into American culture. She also draws parallels between the Trump administration and tyrants of the Middle East.
Linda Sarsour truly loves to stand on her weird pedestal and speak on behalf of Muslims—many of which don’t agree with her—and women alike. She doesn’t speak for me and she will never inspire me in ways that so many other activists have. When people challenge her, she seeks to discredit their character and professionalism in any way possible. She claims to be terrified every day, as she enjoys the rights and freedom Muslim women have in the United States.
