Mexican President Lectures U.S. on Morality

By: - June 3, 2019

In a surreal statement over the weekend Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has taken umbrage at the Trump administration’s measure imposing a gradually increasing five-percent tariff on Mexican goods to convince the Mexican leader to get serious about curbing illegal immigration from his side of the border to ours.

Completely ignoring his own responsibility in the matter, which Trump is seeking to remind him of, he claims the president is “turning the United States, overnight, from a country of brotherly love for immigrants from around the world, to a bolted space, where there’s stigmatizing, mistreatment, abuse, persecution, and a denial of the right to justice to those who seek —with sacrifice and hard work— to live free from misery.”

No, I did not make that up.

Let’s see:

  • “overnight”? Since this subject has been on the U.S. political radar screen for over thirty years, it seems time runs different in Mexico than it does here. The “overnight” to which he alluded likely refers to the relatively short time a Republican has been in office. Yup, no one, but no one, talked about this subject prior to 2017, right?
  • “bolted space”? Yes, we are so “bolted” that the number of illegal immigrants crossing our southern border is now at an all-time high. That’s a hell of a bolt.
  • “mistreatment and abuse”? Yes, providing free housing, food, and healthcare and then through bureaucratic overload letting illegals go free to live in our country, which was their aim, is soooo abusive. But you know who is actually being mistreated and abused? The U.S. taxpayer that has to foot the bill for the whole thing. So like so many stuck pigs abroad, he is upset that the U.S. gravy train is coming to an end. Fini, Jose.

Oh, you’re saying, that Jose line, how racist!

Well, we Latins are an ethnicity not a race, and, as a fellow Latin I will slag my genetic cohorts, in the tradition of ethnic groups all over the globe from time immemorial, any time I bloody well please. Such are the perks of membership.

  • “justice”? For whom? How is enforcing our laws not “justice”? Where is the justice in barging into a country uninvited and then using its resources to feather your nest? It’s like crashing a party then being pissed off that the host doesn’t let you move in that night.

He goes on to tell us that “the Statue of Liberty is not an empty symbol” and “people don’t leave their homelands for pleasure but out of necessity.”

Gee, I wasn’t aware the Statue of Liberty was in Vera Cruz Harbor, not New York Harbor. Neither aware are the millions of Americans whose ancestors legally came here and saw the monument as they entered a land they have made great and prosperous, not skulked into in violation of the law.

And as for the “necessity” of leaving their homeland? Perhaps if the Mexican president would focus more on his own merdehole, which strangely enough is his job, and stop trying to export his flotsam and jetsam to us, then maybe people wouldn’t want to leave Mexico in the first place.

Oh, by the way, almost as soon as he said this highly placed Mexican officials jetted to DC to stand outside of a Home Depot to look for a day construction job.

Okay, I did make that up.

They skedaddled here right quick to try and convince the president not to impose the tariff. So they think the way to persuade Donald Trump, yes, Donald Trump, to stay his hand is to insult him coming out of the negotiations gate?

That is probably the most surreal aspect of the whole thing.
