Nancy Pelosi Claims She is ‘Done’ With President Trump

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is “done” with President Donald Trump. Speaking at the Fiscal Summit from the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, Pelosi said:

“I don’t even want to talk about him. My stock goes up every time he attacks me, so what can I say, but let’s not spend too much time on that because that’s his victory, the diverter-in-chief, the diverter-of-attention-in-chief.”

President Trump and Pelosi have rarely been on good terms. But things got worse this week when reports circulated that behind closed doors Pelosi said she wanted to see Trump in jail. At the summit, she was asked whether she made such remarks.

Pelosi deflected, saying that “conversations in our caucus they stay in our caucus.” She claimed, however, that “people think” the president has committed impeachable, potentially criminal offenses.

In response, President Trump called Pelosi a “nasty, vindictive, horrible person” during a Fox News interview. At the time, President Trump was in Europe, celebrating D-Day. Pelosi lambasted the president for making such remarks abroad, claiming:

“The first rule of our [congressional delegation] is we never criticize a president of the United States when we are overseas. We have plenty of time to do that when we’re back home.”

Pelosi also noted that during her interview she did not directly criticize the President. While Trump and Pelosi may not be on good terms, the Speaker of the House has actually been among the more reluctant Democrats when it comes to moving forward with impeachment. Many believe that Pelosi fears that impeachment would rally Trump’s base, making him a more formidable opponent come 2020.
