Calibre Press, one of the nation’s premier law enforcement training companies, has announced a partnership with the National Law Enforcement Officer Hall of Fame (NLEOHF). Calibre Press and the NLEOHF joined forces out of a mutual interest in “prominently recognizing the kind of outstanding police work that embodies the spirit of courage, dedication, and selfless service prevalent in law enforcement across the country.”
The idea for the NLEOHF is based on a 2017 regional version in Ohio. After a recent Ohio Hall of Fame (HoF) event, one of the people responsible for the regional event, Megan Stockburger, whose father is a retired police officer, got together with Calibre Press CEO Scott Buhrmaster and formed a partnership. The representatives agreed that Calibre Press’s excellent reputation and national platform would “help the Hall of Fame gain national attention.”
Calibre Press President Lisa Gitchell put the collaboration in context from Calibre’s perspective. “The National Law Enforcement Hall of Fame represents the very core of the Calibre Press Mission.” Gitchell added that it’s not just important to support cops “through training, but through standing in front of the world and saying, ‘This is what law enforcement really looks like. This is what law enforcement is all about. This is why we should all be eternally grateful for the work these brave men and women do every day, everywhere.’”
Gitchell is right. Cops tend not to boast about what they do. Most officers avoid the limelight, often downplaying extraordinary actions as simply a part of the job. They go about their duties, responding to anything from parking complaints, littering, and traffic collisions to robberies, rapes, and murders—sometimes of children.
Unlike the vast majority of people who witness such horrors, following their part in the investigation cops most often go back to work. For this reason and more, it’s important that others, such as the NLEOHF in partnership with Calibre Press, recognize law enforcement officers for their invaluable contribution to civil society.
