OPINION: Motel 6 Sued by Washington State for Releasing Guest Information to Feds

“A law-abiding business being sued for keeping their property safe is exactly the kind of garbage that makes the average person so angry at the federal government.”

Washington’s attorney general sued Motel 6 last Wednesday, claiming the national budget hotel chain disclosed the private information of thousands of its guests to US immigration authorities in violation of the state’s consumer protection law. This is the latest example of the bizarre upside-down world that we live in, where a private company cooperating with law enforcement officials is sued.

The government of Washington seems more interested in helping and protecting law breakers, while those who have higher standards like Motel 6 (and most conservative thinking Americans) are labelled racists and sued.

The attorney general claims that Motel 6 gave information without a warrant, thus violating the law. But Motel 6 is a private business that can choose to voluntarily cooperate with law enforcement. Anybody staying at the motel has to provide the information required by Motel 6, so the business is doing nothing wrong, except that it is violating the beliefs of sanctimonious liberals.

Liberal talking points claim that immigrants commit less crime than citizens. But every illegal immigrant breaks the law in coming to the country. New Department of Justice numbers show that illegal immigrants make up the vast majority of inmates.

The attorney general, Bob Ferguson, seems more interested in helping and protecting illegal immigrants than making sure that Washington State is safe for its citizens.

As a low-cost, short-term residence, Motel 6 has an active interest in keeping their properties safe from the criminal element and can easily justify their cooperation with ICE based on self-interest. Many average people who work hard, pay taxes, and can barely afford a small vacation are the very people who would stay at a Motel 6 and the ones most harmed by a government-forced policy change.

The attorney general, Bob Ferguson, seems more interested in helping and protecting illegal immigrants than making sure that Washington State is safe for its citizens. On top of that, Ferguson seems to be using the courts and bogus lawsuits to gain notoriety and fundraising for his political career. This makes him a darling of the elites in his state and around the country, but he is doing it on the backs of those who could actually use protection—the kind of people who stay at Motel 6.

Meanwhile, many law-abiding citizens have to get a second or third job to pay for their taxes, many of which go to those who don’t work and even break the law.

A law-abiding business being sued for keeping their property safe is exactly the kind of garbage that makes the average person so angry at the federal government. Politicians seem to bend over backwards by providing benefits to illegals, helping them avoid deportation at all costs, and even supporting public urination in the name of helping illegal aliens.

Meanwhile, many law-abiding citizens have to get a second or third job to pay for their taxes, many of which go to those who don’t work and even break the law. This nonsense might sound nice on NPR and cocktail parties, but it’s what propelled Trump voters to the ballot box and will likely prevent Democrat politicians from regaining power.
