Opinion: The Trump Presidency and Liberal Hypocrisy

By Rene Sotolongo:

In the hysteria and mania surrounding the post-election results and upcoming inauguration, liberal hypocrisy and intolerance have been on full display. What liberals are frustrated by IS NOT the lack of justice, but instead the result of a free election. They can’t stand that they lost. So in typical liberal fashion, they go on the attack. The entire liberal belief system, from A to Z, has become a glaring example of contradictions.

Case in point:

On December 27th of 2016, just weeks after the presidential election (and days before inauguration), The New York Times called for President-Elect Donald Trump to appoint a trustee to sell his hotels and other businesses and put the proceeds in a blind trust.

According to The New York Times, a notorious liberal newspaper, “Experts believe it is the ‘one action that Mr. Trump can take to assure Americans that he is working to promote only their interests rather than his own fortune or his family’s.'”

And in typical New York Times fashion, they begrudgingly admit that the Trump family has “announced” some steps intended to address these “political conflicts of interest” but go on to say in their editorial that so far, these steps fall well short of what Mr. Trump must do to protect his presidency from “damaging accusations of corruption.”

Really? Where were these so-called experts while Hillary Clinton was running for office, or even better, while she was secretary of state? Where was the same indignation over Hillary and Bill collecting millions for public speaking engagements? Let alone the “political conflict of interest” and “damaging accusations of corruption” that were glaringly apparent while Hillary was secretary.

But it gets better. The New York Times goes on to say:

…he would eliminate the many pay-for-play opportunities and other forms of corruption that could be exploited by him and by corporations and foreign governments seeking to curry favor with his administration…. To avoid the barest perception of wrongdoing, presidents from both parties going back 40 years put their assets in blind trusts or in Treasury securities and mutual funds, even though federal law didn’t require them to do so. Mr. Trump seems determined to flout this standard.

Again, the hypocrisy here is astounding.

Not once in the entire time that Hillary Clinton was secretary of state or running for president did The New York Times EVER ask the Clintons to do the same—despite the fact that they too decided to “flout this standard.”

But unlike Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation, President-Elect Donald Trump said Saturday (December 24th) that he would dissolve the Trump Foundation before taking office next month “to avoid even the appearance of any conflict with my role as president.”

And yet it is Trump who has to, and I quote, “avoid the barest perception of wrongdoing.”

Now here is where it gets really good.

In October, New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman ordered the Trump Foundation to immediately stop soliciting donations in the state.

Schneiderman, a Democrat, issued a “notice of violation” against the foundation because it was raising funds without being registered.

The Washington Post also reported in September that the foundation lacked the required documentation to solicit money in New York. And The New York Times reported the previous month that Trump’s entity was not listed on charity registers in many states.

Fantastic. Great job of investigative journalism. There is only one problem. According to all available documentation, neither was the Clinton Foundation!

In fact, at no time (EVER) was the Clinton Foundation ever authorized to do anything other than to act as a charitable foundation for the building and preservation of the Presidential Clinton Library. And they were only ever authorized to operate in Arkansas.

My God is the hypocrisy here sickening. We have mountains of evidence that the Clinton Foundation was a multi-billion-dollar fraud and nothing was done. Not a word from any liberal.

And the height of hypocrisy? The Clinton Foundation is located on Wall Street in New York! The very same jurisdiction of Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, who issued the cease and desist order to the Trump Foundation.

Come on Eric, you can’t have it both ways. If you are investigating the Trump Foundation, you have to investigate the Clinton Foundation. But we all know that this will never happen.

And mark my words, after forcing the closure of a proven, result-oriented charity, it’s only a matter of time before spiteful liberals will claim that Trump is heartless for closing down a proven charity that has for decades supported the handicapped, veterans, and the homeless.

Yet these very same liberals who have defended and failed to report (for years) the “pay-for-play” racket that was the Clinton Foundation’s MO.

But wait, there’s more.

We all know that the liberal media got their panties in a bunch when Trump announced Rex Tillerson as his secretary of state. All we have heard about is how Tillerson has ties to Russian interests. Well of course he does. He was the chief executive of Exxon Mobil—a multi-national petroleum company that just happens to operate a vast oil and gas reserve off the Russian coast. Of course he has dealings with the Russian government.

The fact is that the liberal press is going out of their way to destroy this man and his reputation. But yet, by their own admission, the documents they discovered about Tillerson do not, and I quote, “indicate anything illegal or improper.”

Despite the fact that there is no indication of anything illegal or improper, the liberal media is on a witch hunt. Yet nary a word about John Podesta’s ties to Russia?

Well, where is your outrage and investigation into John Podesta, you unbelievable hypocrites? You know, John Podesta—Hillary Clinton’s campaign chair and member of the Obama administration.

The fact is that John Podesta sits on the executive board of an energy company named Joule Unlimited. This company has received millions from a Putin-connected Russian government fund. Podesta also received “75,000 common shares” in Joule Unlimited, according to an email exchange uncovered by the WikiLeaks hacks.

And talk about “improper or illegal.” John Podesta failed to fully disclose his position in Joule Unlimited’s board of directors in his federal financial disclosure forms—as required by law.

So who is the criminal here? As near as I can tell, it isn’t Trump and it isn’t Tillerson.

And these are just two of the more current examples.

And then there is the absolute intolerance that liberals have against anyone who disagrees with them.

Have we already forgotten how a New Mexico photographer was forced out of business for declining to photograph a same-sex wedding or how a Colorado baker was forced to make a wedding cake for a gay wedding?

Or how about a New York family that was monetarily fined for refusing to host same-sex weddings on their farm and were actually court ordered to undergo “re-education classes.”

Or how about the Christian t-shirt printer who was ordered to take “diversity training” for refusing to make pro-gay t-shirts.

Have we forgotten that they are the party that protects women, but they say nothing about Bill Clinton being a sexual predator or how they regularly hurl grotesque, sexist insults at feminist role models like Sarah Palin who don’t toe the liberal line?

Or how about how liberals ceaselessly took credit for the budget being balanced during the Clinton years (which was actually a direct result of Newt Gingrich and the Republican-controlled congress) and attacked Bush relentlessly for his profligate spending.

And yet here we have Obama, who has spent more money than all other presidents combined (including Bush) and is running an unsustainable deficit so large that it threatens the very future of the country—and nary a word from liberals.

The liberals are the champions of the democratic voting process. We have to count every vote according to the liberals. That, of course, includes illegals, dead people, and felons. But to hell they say when it’s members of the military serving overseas. The fact is that most of our military are denied their right to vote because Democratic politicians deliberately delay sending out their ballots until it’s too late for them to be returned in time. And I should know—I served in the Navy for twenty years.

And last, but certainly not least, one of my all-time favorites:

When the Democratic politicians (yes, that includes you, Hillary) looked at the information from our intelligence agencies and concluded that Saddam Hussein had WMDs, they were just mistaken.

But when George Bush or any Republican looked at the very same intelligence and drew the exact same conclusion, they were lying.

Liberals, your intolerance and hypocrisy truly knows no bounds.
