Former Florida Democrat Rep. Corrine Brown was recently sentenced to five years in prison for 18 separate mail, federal fraud, and tax-related charges. I wrote about her before the last election – my pieces included opinions about her running for office with federal charges pending against her. Some of the officials involved with the company that she was part of had already pleaded guilty prior to the election. Their scheme had put money raised for a bogus children’s education charity into the pockets of Brown and her cohorts. It was not that difficult to determine that her path to conviction would be the same.
This is a monstrous crime. The fraudsters’ stealing from a children’s charity was provoked by greed, avarice, and lack of caring for humanity. This is not one of those inspirational bank robberies where even the police respect the bravery and acumen of the perpetrators. It ranks high on the list of smarmy crimes. It is hard to find empathy for them.
We see other instances of voters supporting their candidate for issues regardless of the candidate’s immoral shortcomings. However, it appears liberals will support a candidate even when they have been convicted of a crime. Marion Barry comes to mind as one of the most infamous examples of someone who was convicted of dealing drugs, hiring prostitutes, and other fraudulent behavior. However, despite being a ‘convicted’ felon, he was elected Mayor of our capital, twice!
We have just witnessed our congress passing a monumental tax reform bill without a single vote from a Democrat congressman or senator. They have made it clear that liberal beliefs are more important than anything that conservatives believe, even when it helps our country.
The Senate minority leader said Democrats would not support programs for disaster relief for U.S. hurricane victims in Texas and Florida, border security, law enforcement funding, or other programs to help U.S. citizens unless the DACA program is approved and funded. In other words, liberals are willing to support illegal aliens over any program that helps U.S. citizens. While one can debate over which side is willing to compromise, history and recent events indicate liberals are not that side.
Liberals have shown that they will vote for convicted and charged felons, and support programs to support illegal aliens. They also support lawbreaking, such as sanctuary cities. Conservatives are going to have to understand that in many cases we are going against an opponent diametrically opposed to conservative beliefs. Such an attitude is dangerous to the safety and security of this country.

Currently, the leadership of the left’s number one priority appears to be DACA. So, all the problems that this country has are being ignored for an issue helping Illegal aliens. Regardless of the validity of this issue, it remains an issue about the immigration of illegal aliens. A very strange priority for the U.S. citizens suffering through so many natural disasters and national security issues. I doubt this is even a top priority for the countries of DACA origin. Those countries are concerned about their citizens and their problems.
Democrats normally have no platform other than to attack the President and conservative agendas, ideals, and programs. Recent liberal judges’ decisions and the possibly criminal activities by the FBI and DOJ should scare all Americans. It shows just how dangerous and unyieldingly stubborn liberals are willing to be for their ‘causes.’ A disgraced liberal like Al Franken can’t even apologize for his disgusting behavior — he took the opportunity to attack the President and conservatives.
Both conservatives and liberals should help to protect our right to freedom of speech. But that right does not protect someone from stupid speech. When someone votes for someone who is a convicted felon, their intelligence should be questioned. When someone wants to protect illegal aliens instead of the rights of American citizens, it should be questioned. Believe what you want to believe in a free society, but be ready for negative feedback when that belief is evil, stupid, or indefensibly biased.
Assuming Ms. Brown is able to run for office in five years when she is out of prison, there are still democrats that would vote for her like the over 30,000 voters that were not persuaded by the fact she was charged with this heinous crime. Regardless of your political persuasion, those voters are an example of the harmful and dangerous logic of the left.
I believe the current atmosphere in this country caused by liberals is far worse than the circumstances surrounding President Clinton or President Nixon. ANTIFA is an extreme example of leftist fanatical ideology. Conservatives need to fight against the depravity of the left as fiercely as others did in previous historical circumstances. November 2018 may be the next opportunity to try and stop the madness. This time, liberals can’t vote for Brown — she’ll be in prison.
