President Donald Trump on Thursday confirmed that Pam Bondi is out as attorney general, heading to a new and “much needed” job, and deputy Todd Blanche will serve as interim replacement.

“Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year. Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900. We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future, and our Deputy Attorney General, and a very talented and respected Legal Mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as Acting Attorney General. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP,” the president wrote on social media.

Blanche wrote, “Pam Bondi led this Department with strength and conviction and I’m grateful for her leadership and friendship. Thank you to President Trump for the trust and the opportunity to serve as Acting Attorney General. We will continue backing the blue, enforcing the law, and doing everything in our power to keep America safe.”

Reports had confirmed the moves were being made.

Fox’s White House correspondent Peter Doocy said, “As I just reported on Outnumbered – Pam Bondi will soon be moved to another job in the administration – TODD BLANCHE will be elevated to AG in an interim role.”

Doocy said his information came directly from President Trump.

Fox News Digital already was reporting that its sources were confirming the moves in Trump’s administration.

“Bondi met with Trump in the Oval Office Wednesday night ahead of his speech to the nation on the war in Iran, where she reportedly was informed of her ouster, according to two sources familiar with the meeting.
One of those sources said that by the time Trump took his place behind the podium for the address, Bondi already lost her job and was on her way back to Florida,” the report said.

That report suggested Environmental Protection Agency Director Lee Zeldin was being considered as a replacement, as Trump held a meeting with Zeldin at the White House Tuesday to discuss wildfire and prevention, where talks of the transition also unfolded, according to an individual familiar with the meeting.

A Department of Justice official declined to elaborate on the reports.

The White House told Fox, “Attorney General Pam Bondi is a wonderful person and she is doing a good job.”

Blanche has been serving as deputy AG since last year.
