Protesters Mob Chuck Schumer’s Residence Over DACA

While I support the DACA program, I would never sacrifice the well-being of anyone…DACA activists showed absolutely zero concern for the livelihood that was momentarily taken away from the United States Armed Forces and other federal workers. How can people find it in them to be outraged over the end of a government shutdown?

Three days after the government was shut down, the Senate passed the short-term spending bill Democrats had resisted. They initially refused to sign the bill unless provisions were made for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Like many others, I was confused about why the Democrats would hold up a spending bill—effectively costing many people their jobs and/or pay. The DACA program has nothing to do with the spending bill. It was completely despicable to hold up a spending bill that would have allowed the military and many others to receive their pay. Instead, they held the military and federal employees hostage to push their political agenda.

The important thing is they came to their senses and voted to pass the spending bill. Government shut down canceled, I was able to pick up my mail today, and all was right. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer didn’t fare so well. A large mob of people gathered outside of his residence to loudly protest. The group organized on Facebook, where they stated, “Our community is outraged by the Senate vote to pass a temporary budget deal with no solution for Dreamers.” Several showed up at the rally to chant, “If Chuck won’t let us dream, we won’t let him sleep.”

It was completely asinine to shut the government down and prevent Americans from being paid for their hard work over undocumented immigrants. How does that even make sense? Supporters of DACA seem to be okay with causing harm to military and federal employees. Ironically, the “Dreamers” want a DACA bill passed for undocumented immigrants and are willing to sacrifice the well-being of American citizens to achieve it. Protesting against the most relevant voice supporting their cause shows how ungrateful and one-track-minded these “activists” are.

Telling them pay day will have to wait is completely unacceptable and might just be enough to cause me to register as a Republican.

I’m of the mind that a clean DACA bill should be passed. Those protected under the program were brought into the United States as children who had no choice. While I support the DACA program, I would never sacrifice the well-being of anyone. Attempting to force the hand of the Republican party clearly proved to be a mistake.

Marching on Chuck Schumer’s home is literally showing how ungrateful “activists” can be. Protesting with a serious sense of entitlement on the part of undocumented immigrants is a pretty bold move. It seems about right for millennials and far-left liberals. This spending bill was not the time to address undocumented immigrants when service members are serving in areas of conflict. Telling them pay day will have to wait is completely unacceptable and might just be enough to cause me to register as a Republican.

I hope Senator Schumer rethinks his strategy or he’ll have protesters in front of his house again that actually matter. They’re called constituents.
