After a lengthy legal battle, so-called feminist and convicted Palestinian terrorist Rasmea Odeh has agreed to a plea deal. Odeh was set to face trial in May for immigration fraud. Odeh failed to disclose to US authorities that she served 10 years in an Israeli prison for her involvement in a bombing that took the lives of 2 students. Amazingly, she actually has a whole defense committee who say that Odeh would not have been able to receive a fair trial in the US because of the political climate. They also claim that because Odeh is a Palestinian who supports “liberation,” she’s not welcome in the United States.
Never mind the fact that she failed to disclose some pretty serious pieces of information about herself, which can be detrimental to the safety of United States citizens. Her defense says she suffers from PTSD and that was the reason she committed immigration fraud. They went on to say that she was wrongly convicted of being involved in the acts of terrorism. Her defense team continued their theatrical statements by referring to the United States as racists and expressed fear of ICE holding Odeh indefinitely after she finished serving the sentence she may have been given.
Incredibly, that seems to be the norm nowadays when criminals have to face the music—play the race card. It’s insulting and utterly ridiculous. She should not have even been in the United States. Odeh was one of the organizers of the protest “A Day Without A Woman” that advocated women walking out of their jobs for absolutely no reason other than to say, look at all these women who aren’t working. Regardless of her radical ideology and combative calls to action, the fact remains that Odeh was convicted of terrorist acts. Furthermore, she committed crimes during the course of obtaining US citizenship when she lied about her past.
According to her defense committee, Odeh herself made the decision to make a plea deal. She’ll be stripped of her US citizenship, which should have never been obtained, and will be deported rather than serve time in jail. This is an action I don’t see happening if a person has a strong case. If you ask me, she got off easy with no jail time. Odeh knew she was wrong and there isn’t room for known terrorists in the United States.
One of the points made by the prosecution is that Odeh is also associated with groups that the United States has labeled as terrorist organizations. Odeh seemed to be hell bent on “exposing” Israel and spreading hatred towards the people of Israel. It’s ironic that she would try to make a case for how horrible she’s been treated by the United States and how terrible our political climate is. If it’s any consolation to Odeh, she will no longer have to bear the horrible conditions of the United States as she finally faces the music and exits stage left. A Day Without a Woman Terrorist, if you will.
