Undocumented Immigrant Accused of Raping 14-Year-Old Girl In School Bathroom

“Montgomery, like others that have absorbed a large number of the Central American youths, has experienced a noticeable uptick in violence that has been attributed to gangs like MS-13, and this has been especially acute in the high schools.”

Two teens have been arrested and charged in the rape of a 14 year-old-girl at Rockville High School in Maryland. Jose Montano, 17, from El Salvador, and Henry E. Sanchez-Milian, 18, from Guatemala, are accused of forcing the girl into a bathroom stall where she was brutally raped, sodomized, and made to perform oral sex on both men. After her attack, she escaped and promptly reported the incident to school officials, who notified law enforcement. The two men are immigrants who had been in the United States for less than a year. One of them, Sanchez-Milian, has an alien removal case against him already.

Although older, both boys were placed in 9th grade with peers who were far younger. It’s completely insane to me that they would allow an adult who is in the United States illegally to attend public high school as a student.  I also don’t see how the school can justify sticking a grown man into a learning environment with children so young. Sanchez-Milian has absolutely no rights to education in the United States, especially not while on the run from immigration officials.  Information isn’t available regarding the 17-year-old immigrant’s status because he’s still a minor, but either way, I wholeheartedly believe that both teens need to be charged as adults and given the maximum penalty allowed under the law.

It’s every woman’s nightmare to be sexually assaulted, and one of the many unacceptable events that occurred during this horrific attack was that she screamed while being raped and yet no one heard her cries for help. This was in a bathroom at a public high school! The school has since stated that it will increase monitoring of the hallways and bathrooms as a result.

These teens carried out this heinous crime without fear of being caught because they’ve been given refuge in the form of “sanctuary.” According to Jessica Vaughan, the director of policy studies for the Washington, D.C. based Center for Immigration Studies, Montgomery County, Maryland has one of the “more notorious sanctuary policies” in the country and “the surge of Central American kids has become a significant problem in many of the school districts where they are allowed to resettle.”  As Vaughan further stated, “Montgomery, like others that have absorbed a large number of the Central American youths, has experienced a noticeable uptick in violence that has been attributed to gangs like MS-13, and this has been especially acute in the high schools.”

Certain jurisdictions throughout this country have made it clear that those who are in America illegally will be safe from deportation if they can make it to a sanctuary city.  As a result, criminals may feel less likely to be prosecuted for crimes or face consequences in these locations.  This is an example of the types of things that go horribly wrong when we allow undocumented immigrants to remain in the United States.
