“He controlled his victims through money and nondisclosure agreements.”
Like much of America, I have been glued to news reports about allegations that Hollywood mega-producer Harvey Weinstein is a sexual predator. I’m not at all shocked that sexual harassment and assault are prevalent in the Hollywood industry. As social media falls further down the rabbit hole with new information, photos and quotes emerge showing how chummy Weinstein is with powerful people like Hillary Clinton, the Obamas, and many A-list actors and big names.
Ever since the scandal was revealed by the New York Times—followed by an expose in the New Yorker—people have looked to the Hollywood elite for responses, some incredibly delayed and well-scripted by the finest publicists. Even more troubling, it has been widely reported that Harvey Weinstein’s predatory ways were well-known among Hollywood’s inner circles.
This man does not get a pass because he’s a Democrat. Shame on liberal Hollywood. Shame on the silent “feminists.”
The New Yorker also published an incredibly disgusting, heart-wrenching audio clip of Weinstein admitting that he groped a model. He then attempts to coerce her into joining him in his hotel room. In the audio, she can be heard fearfully begging him to leave her alone and asking him why he’s trying to force her to do something she doesn’t want to do. His response: “Don’t embarrass me here, I’m a famous guy.”
The recording was taken by detectives after the model went to the authorities seeking help for her sexual assault. However, in the end, the district attorney decided there wasn’t any evidence to warrant criminal charges against Weinstein. The defeated victim supposedly ended up accepting a monetary settlement from Weinstein—hush money, which seems to be his MO. He controlled his victims through money and nondisclosure agreements.
Multiple A-list actresses have also spoken out about their bad experiences with Weinstein. There are also some familiar names who have been accused of enabling the suspect and remaining complicit: Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Russell Crowe. Two of those have since released statements in attempts to clear up “rumors” surrounding the scandal. They are also being called out by some of their peers in the industry.
Too bad those who knew didn’t have the same fortitude to act against this man until the rest of us found out
As social media remains abuzz, many users have pointed fingers at the liberal elite for turning a blind eye to the fact that Weinstein is a functioning pervert. I find it incredibly hard to believe that this power player has been preying on women in the industry for decades and no one knew about it. Since he’s a big donor to Democratic causes, I guess they’re going to give him a pass. Even late-night TV hasn’t gone in on Weinstein like they need to. He needs to be dragged through the mud for using his status and power to abuse women and those associated with him need to speak out a little more than “I had no idea!”
Sure you didn’t.
This man does not get a pass because he’s a Democrat. Shame on liberal Hollywood. Shame on the silent “feminists.” Luckily, these brave victims finally had the courage to go public. Too bad those who knew didn’t have the same fortitude to act against this man until the rest of us found out.
