The House of Representatives is in sexual harassment shambles and their house of cards is cascading. While skeletons fall from closets and one domino taps into the next in the series of sexual-based shakeups, Rep. Blake Farenthold (R – TX) is the latest self-inflicted career casualty on The Hill. He is also yet another politician to raid the taxpayer dollars slush fund to quell his accuser.
On December 7, 2017 the House Ethics Committee announced that it is forming a subcommittee to investigate Congressman Farenthold pertaining to that “power of the purse” which, reportedly, Rep. Farenthold used to silence a former congressional staff member. On the same day that disgraced Senator Al Franken (D – MN) took to the senatorial floor after a windfall of democrats beckoning his resignation, Rep. Farenthold was named for his improprieties.

Much like disgraced long-term Congressman John Conyers (D – MI) did with several women accusing him of sexual misconduct, Rep. Farenthold paid his former communications director, Lauren Greene, with taxpayer dollars after she filed suit alleging sexual impropriety and hostile workplace environment in 2014. According to the House Ethics Committee, “both Representative Farenthold and the Complainant have publicly expressed an interest in increased transparency in this matter.”

To the throng of media mics outside the House on Thursday, Rep. Franks replied nothing more than “I’ll let the statement speak for itself.” In his letter of resignation, Rep. Franks wrote, “I do want to take full and personal responsibility for the ways I have broached a topic that, unbeknownst to me until very recently, made certain individuals uncomfortable.” Fox News expounded on the issue surrounding Rep. Franks.
One may suspect there will be more detail to follow this unfolding segment of the domino-effect saga in D.C.
Although Rep. Farenthold has not admitted to the allegation, he did offer to reimburse American taxpayers for the legal fees he tallied to preserve his name and elected status.

And that defines the trickle effect. Similar to law enforcement’s plus-one rule –where there is one bad guy, check for another– scrutiny over the Rep. Conyers payout debacle compelled us to suspect more. With that notion, Rep. Farenthold delivered, admitting he is willing to pay back taxpayers the money he used to extinguish his sexual inflammation. Reports are that Rep. Farenthold settled with his accuser for $84,000 from tax doles.

A growing number of members of the House and Senate are jumping on the bandwagon to end such a clandestine payout practice. If only their zeal and accounting prowess were as prominently focused then as it is now. If only.
Incidentally, in September 2017 The Blaze published “A House representative and an enthusiastic supporter of President Trump’s border wall said that contractors who would be building the wall would be better put to use rebuilding Houston after the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey.” That House representative is none other than Blake Farenthold who waffled when Hurricane Harvey struck Houston, Texas in August 2017.
Congressman Farenthold was a stalwart proponent of President Trump’s border wall project…until Hurricane Harvey swept through Texas. Rep. Farenthold advocated redirecting border wall funds to his constituent area instead of national security principles.
The scorecard is as follows; Mr. Conyers resigned December 5, 2017. Mr. Franks resigned December 8, 2017. Mr. Franken resigned December 7, 2017. Rep. Farenthold is warming in the resignation bullpen. We can say the House and Senate floors are being cleaned. Who is next in the swamp-dredge project?
