“No judge under any black robe anywhere can detract from the VOICE program directives.”
As the Trump Train covers national tracks, it rolled out its newest program on Wednesday, April 26, 2017. Dubbed Victims of Illegal Immigrant Crime (VOICE) and governed by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), this program is the newest tool in the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arsenal. The mission statement of VOICE is succinct: “The VOICE office will assist victims of crimes committed by criminal aliens.” No ambiguity whatsoever.
Announcing the launch of VOICE, DHS Secretary John Kelly intimated, “All crime is terrible, but these victims are unique—and too often ignored. They are casualties of crimes that should never have taken place—because the people who victimized them often times should not have been in the country in the first place.” Bingo! That very statement talks to the heart of what is at stake. And, what is still at stake is the enormous number of illegal immigrants roaming freely, some with grossly violent behavior.
Thanks to another Obama-appointed judge, the Trump administration and Justice Department have been stonewalled, most recently by a US District Court judge in California who blocked a federal order to defund sanctuary cities, counties, and states. As President Trump declared in a White House press briefing one day before VOICE was launched:
“This case is yet one more example of egregious overreach by a single, unelected district judge. Today’s ruling undermines faith in our legal system and raises serious questions about circuit shopping. But we are confident we will ultimately prevail in the Supreme Court, just as we will prevail in our lawful efforts to impose immigration restrictions necessary to keep terrorists out of the United States.”
California is one of the states where the entire territory is declared a sanctuary for illegal aliens. And the “unelected” Californian Judge who signed the injunction blocking Pres. Trump’s defunding order is William H. Orrick, a supporter of and fundraiser for President Obama. So the VOICE program arrives at a strategic moment, allowing ICE agents to go about conducting immigration enforcement and rounding up illegitimate criminal suspects who never had an invitation to crash the party and victimize citizens whose legitimacy is contained in the US Constitution.
Wise Measure
On top of offering advocacy and guidance to victims of crimes perpetrated by illegal aliens, the VOICE hotline encourages people to call in with related information. The purported fear of having any police in the yards of residents is abated due to allowing information-gathering via telephone. One impasse at the core of immigration enforcement is an illegal alien’s apprehension defaulting to a supposed uncooperative stance. Anonymous phone contact opens the door to remedy some of the enforcement dilemma.
Don’t get me wrong: I am not suggesting permitting an easy ride so as to avoid detection. I am emphasizing the VOICE program’s attribute of facilitating imperative information to aid criminal investigations has dual merits—no matter the source, information leading to apprehension and deportation proceedings is vital. As Homeland Security’s VOICE website describes:
“Ice community officers will serve as a local representative explaining to victims what information is available and to help victims understand the immigration enforcement and removal process.”
In that regard, other fruits may fall from the tree. Hypothetically, if an illegal immigrant harbors the notion of ICE agents arresting her, she may refrain from calling in a tip on a known sexual assault suspect or child molester who is here illegally. VOICE permits her anonymity in order to aid the national security mission. Some may find that tactic counterintuitive, but there is equity in working angles, especially in the law enforcement arena. However one chooses to slice and dissect it, ICE’s VOICE program can achieve national security objectives.
No matter from whom or how details are gathered, information is gold bullion to law enforcement authorities. Sources should never be discounted to the exclusion of victim’s rights, criminal arrests, and case closures. In the case of immigration enforcement, deportation proceedings become part and parcel, thanks to smaller fish giving up bigger fish (criminal alien homicide suspect).
No Concerns to VOICE
No judge under any black robe anywhere can detract from the VOICE program directives. By creating phone lines open to victims and anyone who wishes to communicate critical information pertaining to illegal aliens, Homeland Security hits a grand slam whereby no judicial Obama-leftover can reach and grab at the line-drive sailing to left field. I admire agents of Justice rounding the bases and chalking-up points on the national scoreboard. Don’t you?
Moreover, there is no need for the nonsense purported by Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez (D – NY) who ludicrously suggested ICE agents not wear “Police” insignia in Brooklyn, a sanctuary city she represents politically. Ms. Velazquez tried to coddle illegal immigrants (aiding and abetting) by toning down the attire of federal cops. VOICE phone lines can elicit critical investigative information from sources, and prevent ICE agents from having to go door-to-door at risk to themselves. When the elements are deemed all lined up, ICE agents can then physically go in and arrest their target(s), donning the word “Police” conferred by rite-of-passage and national security tradition.
Man of his Word
Despite the defeatist attitudes and schematics of saboteurs in the national arena, it is reassuring that our president is not merely taking it on the chin, but forging on with countermeasures to achieve the ultimate goal on our behalf. True to his campaign trail slogan—Making America Great Again—President Trump has his administration busily strategizing and engineering the necessary framework to keep national security measures from derailing. And to not stand behind that is akin to willingly standing behind a cantankerous donkey.
