Suspect Pulls Gun on Couple for Wearing MAGA Hats

Make America Great Again? No matter your affiliation or intent, wearing a MAGA hat is apparently turning out to be a dangerous choice. Reportedly, a man pulled a gun on a couple wearing MAGA hats. Now, you might wonder if the MAGA-hat wearing individuals had turned up at a liberal rally or somewhere else where tensions could quickly escalate. However, the incident actually occurred at a Sam’s Club in Kentucky.

When James Phillips encountered Terry Pierce and his wife, who were both wearing MAGA hats, Mr. Phillips became so enraged that he flicked the couple off inside the store. Mr. Pierce understandably returned the favor with a finger of his own, which caused Phillips to brandish his gun.

Allegedly, Phillips then said that it’s a “good day for you to die.” Pierce then challenged Phillips to either pull the trigger or to set the gun down and fight him. Instead, Phillips fled the scene. However, Pierce followed Phillips out into the parking lot where the verbal confrontation then continued.

It appears that Phillips once again drew his gun. This lead to several people in the parking lot calling the police.

Phillips was carrying a .40 Glock and had a bullet chambered. He also had two spare clips on him. Phillips had a concealed weapons permit from Tennessee, which has reciprocity with Kentucky. Phillips was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment. While cameras inside the store failed to capture Phillips brandishing his weapon, multiple witnesses have come forward to confirm the incident and allegations.

With the 2020 Presidential election season fast approaching, tensions are rising. However, as victim Terry Pierce puts it, “I have as much right to wear that hat and support my country and my president as he has not to.”
