In the wake of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, attention has been turned to the political debate over gun control. Students from Parkland who survived the shooting rampage have become the faces of each side of the debate, making rounds on television shows to express their respective views. However, it seems that one student, Kyle Kashuv, has received much less attention over his pro-gun beliefs than the students promoting anti-gun policies. The political divide in America has made its way into the school system with adverse effects.
Kyle Kashuv recently posted a photo on social media while he was at a shooting range with his father. He captioned the photo with words expressing his support of the Second Amendment. This led to Kashuv being pulled out of class by school security and questioned like a suspect. According to Kashuv, he was interrogated and treated like a criminal. He claims security was rude to him and pointed out that he was only advocating for the Second Amendment. At the close of the investigation, a statement was released by school authorities confirming that Kashuv’s Tweets were non-threatening.
American History teacher Greg Pittman from Marjory Stoneman Douglas spoke out against Kashuv on Twitter, calling him an “attention-seeker” who only wanted publicity by posting the gun range photo. Pittman continued to blast Kashuv, saying it was “probably not the brightest idea to hold the gun like that or anyway to post on social media.” He continued his tirade by saying Kashuv isn’t smart enough to know better than to post gun photos to social media after the shooting incident that recently occurred at the school.
Pittman was met with criticism for his remarks and was even called out by Montel Williams. The two men engaged in a debate over Kashuv’s constitutionally protected right to bear arms. While I might be able to see why the school would question a student simply posing with firearms, Kyle Kashuv’s photos were taken with his father present. He wasn’t engaging in gangland style poses or throwing up stacks of money. Kyle Kashuv was at a gun range. He was safe and being supervised by a parent. Perhaps the controversy arose because he was shooting an AR-15.
Did you also hear only one attention seeking student posted photos holding assault weapons on social media in Parkland after a mass shooting at Douglas High and sheriff checked it out? Really. Attention seeking kids..anything for attention

The hypocrisy of social media’s “woke” individuals is astounding. Recently, Laura Ingraham was dragged through the Twitter mud for saying gun control advocate David Hogg was whining. Hogg led a campaign attempting to destroy Ingraham’s career while fake outrage permeated the internet. Somehow, the lynch mob quickly forgot about that incident and have either remained silent or joined in on the verbal attack on Kyle Kashuv. The liberal world celebrates David Hogg for exercising his First Amendment right, but castigates Kyle Kashuv for exercising his Second. Then when an actual teacher at Kashuv’s high school calls him dumb and berates him online, it’s just another day on Twitter. Luckily, Kyle Kashuv can hold his own. Rather than rounding up followers to attack or playing victim, he owned Greg Pittman by pointing out inaccuracies in his arguments and correcting many of his statements.
