Texas Democratic Congresswoman Helps Illegal Immigrants Circumvent Border Laws

By: - July 11, 2019

Is freshman Democrat Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX) sending staff to Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, a city on the northern Mexico-U.S. border, to help migrants circumvent U.S. immigration law? That’s reportedly what U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) sources are telling WashingtonExaminer.com reporter Anna Giaritelli.

According to Giaritelli, Escobar “is sending staff to Mexico’s northern border town of Ciudad Juárez to find migrants returned from El Paso, Texas, under the ‘remain in Mexico’ policy, then coaching them to pretend they cannot speak Spanish to exploit a loophole letting them to return to the U.S.”

A senior official of the El Paso chapter of the National Border Patrol Council shared evidence with the Washington Examiner. He said Rep. Escobar’s staff is going to the border “to basically second-guess and obstruct work already done by the Border Patrol.”

Under immigrant protection agreements between the U.S. and Mexico, the U.S. can only return people to Mexico who are fluent in Spanish. This protocol is in place because the person may have to live in Mexico for five years while awaiting their asylum claim to be adjudicated by a U.S. federal judge.

Now CBP is reporting people returning to the port who spoke Spanish fluently when first detained in the U.S. but have strangely lost their Spanish fluency. Apparently, congressional staff are coaching the folks to say they do not speak fluent Spanish. And it’s not just language the Dems are conscripting as co-conspirators to side-step the law.

Giaritelli writes, “In one incident, an Escobar aide and diocese official walked a male migrant over the bridge in June and asked for him to be admitted into the U.S. because they had found he had ‘cognitive disabilities.’”

After local cops turned the 17-year-old over to Border Patrol, an agent investigating the case found an official U.S. government form in the boy’s file. Affixed to the form was a U.S. House of Representatives seal. A congressional staffer would have had to leave the form in the file after having interviewed the boy while in Mexico.

The staffers were not supposed to leave the form in his file “because it would reveal to the Border Patrol that a member of Congress or their staff was meeting with migrants in Mexico.”

The CBP deported the teen because they found a medical professional hadn’t diagnosed the “cognitive disabilities.” Instead, an official reported an aide to Congresswoman Escobar had made the “diagnosis.”

Rep. Escobar has not responded to the Washington Examiner’s requests for comment.

It seems like the Dems are increasing their no-holds-barred attack on American law and order at the southern border. There is also a confirmed report someone allegedly raped a female migrant after she was returned to Mexico. Staffers used the, admittedly heinous, crime as an excuse to return her to the port to try to get her readmitted to the U.S. However, as excruciatingly sympathetic as the case may be, the crime, if it occurred, was committed in Mexico. And it doesn’t seem, after at least one of them reportedly “played doctor,” as if Escobar’s staffers are a particularly trustworthy lot.

A CBP official put the situation succinctly: “Resources are being diverted into a foreign country in an attempt to reverse already-decided legal action, meaning these people were found inadmissible under a new program and they must remain in Mexico. They’re [Rep. Escobar et al.] trying to subvert that.”
