The Coup That Wasn’t

By: - March 25, 2019

There’s this great scene in the 1956 biblical epic, “The Ten Commandments.” Anne Baxter, playing Nefretiri as a total wretch to Yul Brynner’s Rameses, is mocking him in comparison to her old boyfriend, Moses. The NRA’s own Charlton Heston plays Moses.

Anyway, after Moses/God runs total game on Rameses and the Hebrews are freed, she says to him, “You hear laughter, Pharaoh?

Well, this morning here in DC it’s, “You hear laughter, Nancy?” And Chris, and Rachel, and Zucker? It’s the laughter of conservatives indulging in a schadenfreude festival so immense and spiritually pleasing that tomorrow’s inevitable synapse-crushing hangover will be a small price to pay.

For in the culturally clichéd phrase of a character probably played somewhere along the line by the talented, yet unbelievable political dumbass, Robert DeNiro, “You got nothin’!”

You got no collusion, you got no Russian agent in place, you got no scalp on anything related to 2016 and the president. After all that time and money, 40 G-Men and scads of Trump-hating lawyers, you got bupkis. And most of all? You got NO coup.

Your little exercise in regime change came a cropper and every House committee that tries to continue the farce will run into that roadblock.

Now true, some of us got one thing wrong too: Robert Mueller. This pal of Comey could have gone with the flow and indicted the proverbial ham sandwich. Many of us, including me, thought he would. We were wrong. The Marine and Republican prosecutor played it straight. He’ll now find out there’s a price for that in today’s DC. Dems are already alleging he is a Trump mole. Which is interesting, because only last week he, Luke Skywalker-like, was “their only hope.”

Now, he’ll feel the lash of being honest in an essentially dishonest town. He’ll be treated like John Roberts, in reverse. No chic tout le monde Georgetown cocktail parties for you, Bob Mueller!

Care to continue this fun? Tune into to BlazeTV at 12:30 today and watch me, Drew Berquist, and the assembled reprobates continue our war dance upon the grave of the Mueller Report.

Be there or be square.
