The death toll has been estimated to have surpassed 500, and nearly 2,000 more people are missing following the catastrophic flash flooding that swept through parts of Nepal and China.
As of Friday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority of Nepal said 1,924 were missing, and local media reports have said the death toll is at 579.
Americans are included both in the death toll and the list of those still missing, from the flooding that happened on Wednesday.
The theory is that a glacial collapse produced the flood that washed away people, cars, even entire buildings.
Reports say it was a landslide in the region of the Bhotekoski and Trishuli rivers, in the Himalayas.
The result was flash flooding that destroyed everything in its path.
Search crews were dispatched by officials both in Nepal and China.

“Nobody has seen anything like it before the terms of flooding,” he said. “It’s a very tragic situation.”
