Scott Brian Haven has been arrested for threatening members of Congress throughout a three-year period. During this time, Haven made some 2,000 phone calls to Washington DC, often threatening members of Congress and their staff. In one instance, Haven called up an unnamed member of Congress and claimed that he was right behind him and ready to shoot him in the head.
The reason? According to Haven, “the Russians” wanted the particular member of Congress taken out because he was trying to remove the duly elected president. While Democrats in Congress have been swift to push back against Trump, Democratic leadership has yet to introduce articles of impeachment.
In another incident, Haven told a staffer that there are “far more Second Amendment people than whiny, crying liberals.” A month later, he called that same office back and once again raised the Second Amendment and that he’d address the Democrat mobs “threatening” conservatives.
In yet another incident, he threatened to cut two senators’ heads off. The names and identities of the members of Congress are being kept secret. It’s likely that Haven mostly targeted Democrats but he may have also threatened anti-Trump Republicans.
When confronted by a law enforcement agent last summer, Haven threatened to beat the officer up. He also told the agent that the government should be investigating Black Lives Matter.
Fortunately, Haven never made good on his threats. Instead, he was taken into custody in Kaysville, Utah. Haven had no criminal record in Utah but he remains jailed pending the outcome of his case. He has been charged with interstate transmission of threats to injure.
