Department of Defense officials stated on Tuesday that a U.S. Service member was killed in Eastern Afghanistan’s Nangarhar Province. The violent province, which borders Pakistan, has claimed numerous lives during the War on Terror and has recently seen an uptick in activity with the resurgence of the Taliban and increasing ISIS presence within Afghanistan.
