Vice President JD Vance said Democrats want to jail law-abiding law enforcement officers, after many Democrats expressed outrage over an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shooting and killing a protester in her vehicle on Wednesday.
“Every congressional democrat and every democrat who’s running for president should be asked a simple question: Do you think this officer was wrong in defending his life against a deranged leftist who tried to run him over?” Vance wrote on X on Thursday.
“These people are going to try to arrest our law enforcement for doing their jobs. The least the media could do is ask them about it.”
Thousands of people gathered in Minneapolis on Wednesday to protest the shooting of Renee Nicole Good, 37, by an ICE agent, Reuters reported. Videos of the incident posted online show Good was in her vehicle and partially blocking street traffic when she was approached by several agents.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, the woman moved to run over the agents with her car “in an attempt to kill them,” and an officer fired shots in self-defense at the vehicle, killing Good.
However, witnesses appeared to dispute that account of the incident to local news, telling FOX 9 that the agents were attempting to enter the vehicle when one of them opened fire.

Vance said the protesters tried to stop the officer from doing his job.
“When he approached her car, she tried to hit him,” he said. “A tragedy? Absolutely. But a tragedy that falls on this woman and all of the radicals who teach people that immigration is the one type of law that rioters are allowed to interfere with.”
Minnesota’s Democratic Gov. Tim Walz said he might deploy the Minnesota National Guard to protect citizens from “rogue” federal agents, in a Wednesday press conference following the shooting.
Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., whose district includes the city of Minneapolis and some suburbs, said on X that the Trump administration is lying about the incident.
“There was no attempt to run the officer over and no ICE agents appear to be hurt,” Omar wrote. “Get out of our city.”
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, a Democrat, said on X, “The presence of federal immigration enforcement agents is causing chaos in our city.” At a press conference on Wednesday, he used a profanity to tell ICE to leave the city.
