Hundreds of earthquakes are rattling the eastern side of Hawaii’s Big Island. The quakes have prompted concerns that the Kilauea Volcano will erupt. Located in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Kilauea is one of the world’s most active volcanoes. The earthquakes recorded in the area have measured around a magnitude of 2.0, but their frequency has increased in recent days after a crater floor collapsed. A volcanic cone along the eastern rift of Kīlauea collapsed on May 1st, but over 250 tremors have been recorded in the days since.
