United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley delivered blistering remarks to the UN security council in the wake of a coordinated bombing of Syria’s chemical weapons program. Backing President Trump’s decision to act alongside allies to dismantle Syria’s chemical weapons production facilities, Haley reinforced the United States resolve to prevent mass murder at the hands of the Assad regime. The ambassador also asserted that Syria had been given several chances to end its use of chemical weapons. She also blasted Russia for its complicity in Syria’s use of chemical weapons by blocking votes to take action against the regime, including the investigation into whether or not the Assad regime had actually ceased using weapons of mass destruction. Nikki Haley quoted President Trump as saying if Syria continues using chemical weapons, the United States is “locked and loaded.” She also pointed out that President Trump has a red line that he will actually act on if crossed.
