An upscale salon in Des Moines, Iowa faced severe backlash on social media after posting a photo of first daughter Ivanka Trump.
Salon Spa W posted a photo to Facebook, sharing that Ms. Trump had visited the salon to have her hair styled. Users of the social media platform immediately blasted the salon for supporting Ivanka Trump by allowing her to patronize their services. Many called for others to boycott the salon, citing political differences. In response, Salon Spa W released a statement explaining that the business is nonpartisan and is proud to offer services to everyone from all walks of life.
Ivanka Trump was in town meeting with staff and students at a school, where she received a warm welcome and viewed various projects by students. Ivanka Trump has been vocal about supporting women and girls, encouraging them to pursue careers in STEM fields. Ahead of the appearance, Ivanka Trump dropped into the salon to get her hair done.
