President Trump signed a temporary spending fix Monday night officially ending the three day-long government shutdown which froze federal and military pay and certain non-essential functions.
Senate Democrats agreed to end what was popularly dubbed “Schumer’s Shutdown” after Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) with a bill funding the government through Feb. 8.
In return, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell promised to hold debate on DACA extension legislation in February.
The stop-gap bill itself though largely resembles the legislation resembling that put forward Friday, including six years of funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program, which needed renewed funding by February.
By most accounts, it appears Republicans won this first round simply by holding the line.
