After the fourth explosive device in Austin detonated Sunday, officials have been left deeply concerned about the “sophistication” of the bomb-makers skill. While three of the packages detonated when the victims opened or moved them, the most recent bomb was possibly triggered by a trip-wire. Austin police chief Brian Manley told Good Morning America, “If this explosion was the result of the bomb utilizing tripwire technology, that is showing a different level of skill above what we were already concerned that the suspect or suspects may possess.” Authorities do not currently have specifics leading them to one suspect. They are working under the assumption that the four explosions are related. The suspect’s motive is still unknown.
