For years, Americans have been told that Islam is simply another religion and that concerns about Sharia, jihad and the Muslim Brotherhood belong to another era or another part of the world. Filmmaker Chris Burgard says Americans need to wake up, because the battle is already here.

In this explosive conversation, Elizabeth Farah and Burgard examine what he describes as the growing influence of Islam and Sharia in Texas, the tactics he believes are being used to gain political and cultural power, and why he sees the U.S. Constitution and Islamic law on an unavoidable collision course.

“Sharia is the enemy of the Constitution because it seeks to supplant that,” Burgard tells Farah. His warning is not merely theoretical. He points to Islamic developments in Texas, battles over schools and local communities, the Muslim Brotherhood, immigration, political influence and what he describes as a strategy of gradual expansion that too many Americans refuse to recognize.

Burgard also takes the discussion overseas, drawing parallels between events in Nigeria, Britain and the United States. He describes persecuted Christians in Nigeria, the experience of Lara Logan in Egypt, and communities in Britain he believes demonstrate what can happen when authorities become unwilling or unable to confront Islamic extremism.

But Burgard’s answer is not fear. It is resistance through faith, truth, free speech and the Constitution. He argues that Christians have spent too long worrying about offending people and not enough time defending the freedoms that allow Americans of every faith to worship freely.

That battle is at the heart of Burgard’s new documentary, Remember the Alamo. The film examines Islam, Sharia and the fight unfolding in Texas, with appearances from Lara Logan, Allen West and others. Burgard says the Alamo itself represents the message he wants Americans to remember: liberty sometimes survives only because people are willing to stand for it.

And his warning to the rest of America is unmistakable: if Texas cannot stand its ground, what happens to the rest of the country?
