In what some are calling one of the best anti-communist speech of all time, Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the failed ideology as “a distinctive and unique evil,” saying it “has always been driven by a hatred, above all else, for civilization itself.”
The speech was part of a conference Rubio hosted with leaders from 60 nations to address the increase in political violence globally – especially left-wing terrorism.
Said Rubio: “They can call themselves anti-capitalists, or anti-imperialists, communists, anarchists, Marxists, but the fundamental character is always the same – it’s always the same. It is a poisonous resentment cloaked in the language of equality, justice, liberation. An overwhelming need to tear down what great men have built. To wreck what is beautiful and what is right on behalf of people who are only filled with ugliness and have nothing else to offer the world.
“Through violence and terror, they once again seek to impose their ugliness on all of us.”

Rubio is thought to be one of the top two potential Republican candidates for the White House in 2028, the other being Vice President JD Vance.
