Being a responsible adult means never claiming racism and bigotry don’t exist. They do. There will always be racists. There will always be bigots. There will always be corrupt politicians trying to light the rest of us on fire.
As with corruption, it is up to us to continually stomp these societal viruses out because they continually appear and always threaten the values we hold dear.
For the last year, BLM, Antifa, and the Democrats have been beating America down in a game of racist whack-a-mole by cherry-picking events and building narratives so fast in media, they’re on the next story before any facts are public on the last one.
BLM very successfully launched a keyword campaign honed in on the generational gap experiences between the 1960s-70s activists whose work and suffering paved the way for racial, social, and economic equality and 2020 Democratic Party activists/terrorists.
Let’s be blunt. The only US President to provide a workable solution for the inner-city poor was in fact Donald Trump by revitalizing the poorest neighborhoods through his 2017 Executive Order for investing in Opportunity Zones.
Economic independence through revitalizing those areas by creating jobs and businesses are the only things that would change the 2.5x the national poverty rate for those neighborhoods.
BLM and Democrats realize accepting racial, social, and economic equality means losing political power and economic clout for themselves. And to make matters worse, BLM and Democrats have the gall to stand on the heads of the vulnerable inner-city poor while lionizing the criminals terrorizing inner-city neighborhoods to stop any substantial progress that could be made.
Because BLM and Democrats set the terms of the conversation, it’s up to conservative leaders to take charge of the conversation so it reflects reality.
Blacks are not emotionally frail people and Whites are failing miserably engaging important straightforward conversations because they’re getting caught up sputtering unintelligible BLM bits and talking points. Most of these leaders and people don’t agree with BLM anyway. The conversation has to be clear and frank.
BLM doesn’t represent Blacks any more than Antifa represents Whites.
BLM and the Democrats know defunding the police means more crime. More neighborhood crime translates to fewer jobs which in turn means even more crime.
For example, Trump supporters were quick to point out lethal inner-city Black confrontations with police dropped while Donald Trump was in office. Do you believe he had a special deal with the police?
No. The strength of the economy under his administration created jobs. Poverty-driven crime and lethal confrontations between blacks and police dropped measurably as a result.
If BLM is a fraud, then Joe Biden equating a fentanyl abusing petty criminal like George Floyd with Dr. Martin Luther King (BLM say his name) is one of the grossest travesties a US President has ever uttered against the heroic legacy of the Civil Rights movement.
Here’s the kicker. Looking at real population demographics in the US (poor, middle class, rich), the actual data shows parity and equality in the experiences of all people according to the different economic strata that make up America.
When you consider BLM only operates in Democratic Party controlled cities together they are forced to make inner-city criminals preying on the people in those neighborhoods into civil rights icons, it’s because they had no other choice. Tragedies happen in police work but not even at a level BLM can take advantage of.
BLM and Dems can’t turn back the Civil Rights gains or race relations in the US. We’ve come too far. Conservative leaders have to stand up for all Americans today and drive that reality home.
Let’s look at the hardest subjects BLM is lying about — economic equality and policing. If all the races making up America are treated equally and economic classes show equal opportunity, BLM is a fraud.
The middle class is the best barometer available because equality in this economic division is what makes looking at the real data possible. Without establishing that baseline first, all the numbers can be skewed in any direction.
A Brookings Institute study titled The middle class is already racially diverse and others like it show America made amazing progress in civil rights and equal opportunity for all citizens.
“White Americans are slightly over-represented in the middle class at 59 percent compared to being 57 percent of the population. Black Americans make up 12 percent of the middle class and 13 percent of the population. Eighteen percent of the middle class identifies as Hispanic compared to 19 percent of the population. Asian Americans comprise seven percent of the middle class and seven percent of the population.”
The middle class and wealthy have economic parity across races in the USA and even divides according to population percentages until you reach the top 5%.
It’s also where BLM and the Democrats start fudging their numbers about racist American police shootings and a racist White America. When they show the demographic by percentages, they never show the economic data, only total populations, i.e., how many total Whites, Blacks, and Hispanics.
When BLM and Democrats do this, they ignore the reality of the middle-class experience. There is little to almost no chance of being shot by a police officer in a confrontation for any of the middle class or wealthy regardless of race.
Rev. Jesse Jackson backs this assertion in a 2016 article, Police Shootings Are About Class as Well as Race. “95 percent of police killings occurred in neighborhoods with median family incomes under $100,000. There were no killings in neighborhoods with median family incomes of $200,000 or above.”
Although he’s skewed the income up a little, middle class and wealthy blacks and whites are almost never killed in confrontations with police because the percentage of armed or violent confrontations drops precipitously with higher income gains. There are fewer criminals.
Let’s begin with police stops because this includes the middle class. The bottom line is reality shows an absolute absence of racism or bias in police work across America.
The study almost looks like it tried to lay the groundwork for BLM but they couldn’t quite ignore the numbers. Of consequence is White men are treated more roughly than Blacks by police across the board during street stops.
They label this as White Privilege. It gives me a warm feeling.
Poor Black men stopped in Black inner-city neighborhoods by police comprise most racial profiling incidents which is weird, as middle-class men (Black and White) complained the most about racial profiling and rough treatment respectively.
The last part most likely has to do with class expectations because of income rather than race. What you will see and why I opened with this is income opportunities are a key factor in this conversation.
Racism is the new sexy in politics. BLM sells the sizzle and Democrats push the narrative. You’re pushed down because you’re Black. You get shot by police because you’re Black.
No job? Are you Black? All of this happens in Democrat-managed cities.
The reality is from a city planning perspective it’s a hell of a lot easier to sell the narrative and get the votes than to tell Blacks they (Dems) won’t disturb the balance of power by creating jobs that give Blacks options.
From the 2018 Washington University, St. Louis study Police Use of Force by Ethnicity, Sex, and Socioeconomic Class :
∙ Black males with incomes of less than $20,000 and of $20,000–$49,000 were significantly more likely to report exposure to police use of force during their most recent street stop than Black males with incomes of $50,000 or more. This finding supports prior research suggesting that police use of force among Black residents, particularly Black males, is a phenomenon primarily expressed in predominantly Black low-income urban communities (Ross, 2015)
∙ Prior studies have found a link between racial profiling and high rates of street stops among Black residents living in predominantly Black low-income neighborhoods (Gelman, Fagan, & Kiss, 2007; Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Global Justice Clinic, New York University School of Law, International Human Rights Clinic, University of Virginia School of Law, & Hansford, 2016), as well as racial threat and police use of force (Parker, MacDonald, Jennings, & Alpert, 2005).
∙ In contrast, data from a nationally representative sample of Black adults showed that middle-class Black people were significantly more likely than disadvantaged Black people to view the practice of racial profiling as widespread and to report that they have experienced it personally (Weitzer & Tuch, 2002).
∙ Findings from this study suggest that income may be less of a determinate than sex for White residents, as significant differences in the types of police force used during street stops were found among White males across all income categories and among White females with incomes of less than $20,000 and of $20,000–$49,000.
∙ In addition, higher income White males may be at greater risk for experiencing street stops involving police use of more extreme types of force than White females and Black residents, as they were the only group in this study that experienced police force that involved hitting/kicking.
∙ Street stops resulting in police use of force among White residents in this study may also be interpreted in the context of White or White male privileges. power than White females (Kendall, 2002).
The following chart shows the false demographic data being pushed right now. As you’ll soon see, once you take out the by population number and exclude the not-at-risk middle class and wealthy (black and white), the percentage of police killings are the same between Blacks and Whites.
When the numbers are skewed like this chart is, it looks like a Black Holocaust but only until you see the next graph and skewing of numbers.
If a 5th grader only had this graph from The Week as a starting point, the only conclusion available is America is a white supremacist nation and has a violent racist police force.
A June 2020 article in US News & World Report pushing the BLM-Democratic Party narrative titled “Deaths From Police Harm Disproportionately Affect People of Color” bluntly states and graphically lies about the data this way.
“More than 1,000 unarmed people died as a result of police harm between 2013 and 2019, according to data from Mapping Police Violence. About a third of them were black.
About 17% of the black people who died as a result of police harm were unarmed, a larger share than any other racial group and about 1.3 times more than the average of 13%.”
Because the following graph isn’t concerned with total deaths as much as unarmed deaths, it looks like a White Holocaust. Keep in mind it’s using essentially the same data sources.
Unarmed White deaths according to the numbers they provide add up to 15%. The number gets lowered when you average Hispanic and White deaths together and that creates a sexy margin showing White and Hispanic privilege.
Both graphs are entirely wrong in their approach. Neither gives a context to the numbers. Nor do they describe the situations these deaths occurred in.
Most of the unarmed deaths occur when criminals fight with police, try to take a police weapon or are involved in something that threatens the police or civilians.
Another study was done showing a similar but not same approach to populations concluded no bias but according to the Guardian in 2016–
“A study reported by the New York Times on Monday claimed to find “surprising new evidence” that there is no racial bias in police shootings. But the study, and the New York Times’ reporting, uses a small sample of data that leads to simplistic conclusions.”
Yet again, a 2019 University of California study of police bias in shootings emphasized its findings showed no disparity with a bias toward black or white survivability during a police confrontation.
“We find no evidence of anti-Black or anti-Hispanic disparities across shootings, and White officers are not more likely to shoot minority civilians than non-White officers. Instead, race-specific crime strongly predicts civilian race. This suggests that increasing diversity among officers by itself is unlikely to reduce racial disparity in police shootings.”
The real numbers
It is 2021 and no study of how rates of poverty and deadly force encounter with police studies have been done in the US. This notation was a constant across the academic studies and in notes as well as comments attached to them.
The following does just that. For the first time, you can see just how skewed BLM and Democratic Party numbers are concerning police shootings comparing them to the actual percentages side by side.
University of Toronto professor Urilch Shimmack accounted for poverty-driven crime in his critique of the study which is the missing factor in every other explanation and shows there is no systemic racial bias in policing today.
Shimmack’s use of poverty rates in the equation show blacks are 2.5X more likely to be poor in a given population than whites which accounts for the 2.3X more criminals figure and normalizes it with White populations. In other words, the poverty rate, crime rate, and odds of being killed by police in a confrontation are tied together.
By using the rates of poverty data, he computed the odds of being killed, the odds of being poor, and the odds of being killed given being poor, assuming that police predominantly kill poor people.
Shimmack notes most murderers in the black community stand a better chance of being killed by another black criminal than being arrested and most crimes go unsolved.
If we skew the data like BLM and the Democratic Party, using total US population columns for blacks and whites, blacks are 2.5X more likely to be killed during a confrontation with police. We are back to the Black Holocaust again.
When we normalize the data and take out little to no risk populations, i.e., the middle class and the wealthy, all the numbers make sense across the board and can be explained.
The odds of being killed in a confrontation with police if you are poor and Black is 3.34%, while the odds of being killed if you are poor and White is 3.64%.
The same applies to blacks and whites who are unarmed and killed by police. Although there are many more whites, the equalization by class not race shows unarmed blacks and whites have almost equal odds of being killed in a confrontation with police with no drastic statistical differences.
When you apply those numbers to violent crime rates, the myth of systemic racist murder by cop evaporates.
“According to the FBI UCR, there were 1,186,742 incidents of violent crime in 2018, and of them, 14,123 were homicide victims.
Blacks comprised 54.9% of all homicide offenders, compared to 42.4% for whites. Blacks are 13.4% of the US population, yet they accounted for more than half of all homicides.”
According to the data, in 2019, police shot 55 unarmed suspects of which 25 were white and 14 were black. Many of these included high-speed chases, fights with police, and weapons recovered at the scene.
In real terms, Black men are more likely to be killed by a lightning strike than a police officer.
So, what about the unarmed poor White population who are in fractionally more danger meeting their death by a police officer’s gun? No one cares. Why would they? It’s statistical lightning.
Most children in poor neighborhoods hear some form of “Play a stupid game, win a stupid prize” at different points in their youth. Criminals get shot. Be aware of where you are and who you’re with. The idea a racist group like BLM can take advantage of tragedies that are happening, following them like an ambulance chaser galls me. They are not only destroying the police, they are literally destroying the neighborhoods they claim to represent just to get power over them for the sake of politics.
