With early voting now taking place in Texas, some residents in the Lone Star State are receiving mysterious pro-transgender literature in the mail – addressed to the students – yet no one is taking credit for the flyers.

“I am one pissed off mama,” said Randee Holloway, a San Antonio photographer who posted a video of herself strongly condemning the literature titled, “Texas Trans and LGBTQ+ Student Resource Guide.”

“You will not target my children,” she fumed. “This mailer was mailed addressed to the students of the Holloway Family. Not to the parents, not to the resident.

“In this mailer, they tell you how to get your children emancipated from you, and how they can go about getting transitioned out of state without your consent.”

The Christian mother continued: “They are specifically telling your children not to come to you with their issues, with their concerns, with their confusion.”

“A child under the age of 18 is not allowed to get a tattoo without their [parental] consent because it’s permanent. But you’re telling children that it is OK to surgically remove their genitalia and inject hormones into their body.”

Holloway concluded with an urgent plea for parents to head to the ballot box, saying, “Vote to protect your children because if we don’t take a stand, they are coming for our children and they are coming to our homes.”

The material ostensibly comes from the Texas Transgender Student Union, which named the Transgender Education Network of Texas, or TENT, as a group for students to contact.

TENT is denying involvement, stating: “We are aware of text messages and now physical mailers that have been circulated concerning TENT that appear to have been issued by or on behalf of the organization.

“These text messages and mailers were not authored, authorized, approved, or distributed by TENT and are not affiliated with our organization. The texts do not represent the official position or communications of the organization.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and remain committed to our organizational values of unequivocal support for trans Texans, their families, and their loved ones. Trans Texans belong here. This is our home and we’re not going anywhere.”

Campaign-finance expert Anna Massoglia, an editor at MuckRock, told NBC DFW the mailers seem to fall into a gray area of political advertising since no candidate or ballot measure is explicitly supported.

“This is a mailer that does not mention an actual candidate, which makes it fall into a gray area in a lot of places because it doesn’t necessarily provide a lot of information on who is funding it,” Massoglia said.

The Texas Transgender Student Union is registered as a limited liability company in Sheridan, Wyoming, located in a building that houses hundreds of thousands of business registrations.

“It’s not uncommon for very opaque groups, shell companies, dark money groups to be registered in Wyoming,” Massoglia said. “Delaware is another state that we see these groups registered in due to lack of transparency and disclosure requirements.”

Mark Jones, a political science professor at Rice University, told KHOU-TV in Houston he believes the mailer indeed has a political purpose.

“I would say this is most likely coming from some group that is supporting Ken Paxton, or at least Republicans more generally. But we don’t know, and they may very well not have direct ties to any campaign or candidate,” Jones said.

“And, so what this is subtly doing is reminding parents or bringing up for many of these parents the issue of transgender, and the fact that the more that they think about transgender, we know from polling, the more unfavorable they’re going to view James Talarico.”

Jones suggested the literature may also encourage undecided voters to cast a ballot.

“The more Republican leaning voters and independent voters think about transgender issues, the more likely they are to turn out to vote and vote Republican,” Jones said.

“It isn’t uncommon to have misinformation or disingenuous mailers going out. What is different here, though, is that this is being sent out as a very apolitical, pro-trans mailer, but it isn’t designed to have a pro-trans effect. What it’s designed to do is get parents concerned that somehow someone is trying to convert their children, or someone essentially has values related to transgender children and transitioning that are opposite their values.”

Is the news we hear every day actually broadcasting messages from God? The answer is an absolute yes! Find out how!
