Fifty percent of registered voters in Iowa favor President Donald Trump, compared to 44% who support Joe Biden, a new Monmouth University poll reveals.
Trump had led Biden 48% to 45% among registered voters in August.
Here are how the Iowa poll results, released Thursday, break down:
- 49% of “likely” voters back Trump, while 46% support Biden.
- 49% of registered voters say they have a favorable opinion of Trump, compared to 49% who have an unfavorable view of him.
- 41% say they have a favorable opinion of Biden, while 49% have an unfavorable opinion.
- 47% of registered voters favor incumbent Sen. Joni Ernst, a Republican, compared to 47% who support Democrat challenger Theresa Greenfield.
The poll, conducted Sept. 18-22, surveyed 402 Iowa voters. The margin of error is plus or minus 4.9 percentage points.
