In November 2015, Paris was hit by coordinated terrorist attacks on the same day. The location that experienced the heaviest loss of life was the Bataclan concert hall. During a performance, 3 gunman entered the venue and opened fire on the concertgoers. They began with those closest to the entrance, at the bar and continued firing into the crowd indiscriminately. As panic ensued, people scattered desperately searching for an exit. When all was said and done, 90 people lost their lives in the Bataclan.
The 3 gunman were all wearing suicide vests, and all were all ultimately killed when they detonated. ISIS claimed responsibility for the coordinated attacks on Paris. The Bataclan attackers took hostages during a brief standoff with police. Details later emerged that the militants may have tortured some of the victims. The men told the hostages they could thank the president of France for the attack having occurred. No one could have predicted this horrible attack. For many survivors of the attack, it has been a long road to recovery.
